i've heard many people tell me about bible prophesy.

if the bible can predict future events then it stands to reason that those events are predetermined and man has no choices in this world.

think about all the choices you've made in your life and how different life for you would be if you had done things differently.

Other thoughts on religion.

Religion has had a pretty poor track record over time.

On the plus side, it has helped the poor down trodden over centuries keep a modicum of hope. On the negative side, it does nothing to lift them out of that poverty, since they look for pie in the sky some day. Furhtermore, religion has been used by despots to keep the poor drugged and in their place. I don't agree with Marx's philosophy, but I agree with his statement, "religion is the opiate of the people."

As a way to explaing the world, religion has less and less to offer while science has more. People don't believe that the god Thor throws thunder bolts from heaven any more. Modern metiorology (sp) offers a better explanation. Most people don't believe that the mentally ill are deonized, although their is a cultural lag among some of the fundies on this subject. There is very strong evidence that schizophrenia, for example, is a geneticly inherited brain desease.

As far as I am concerned, religion, at least in its organized form is the home to fear, superstition, hate, repression, murder of the infidel, and depression/self loathing among the believers. This is not a home I care to live in.

Logical,

How sinful are your sins? Are your suicidal thoughts more or less sinful than anyone else? I always thought that fundies like yourself considered this to be a major sin. How about your hate filled statements to us after all we showed you was kindness. You never did apologize. You errased your rant to us from the record, but our comments to you are still there as proof of your sin.

Logical suggested that you read mds' posts. Let me save you some time. Logical almost became a witness, but now is a desciple of mds. Mds left the wintnesses in 1991, and considers himself a modern day interpreter of phrophesy. Bjc and jr are two other followeres of his.

You asked me about my bliefs. I believe in determinism. As a major premis, it has done more to advance human knowledge than any other approach. Can it be proven absolutely? No. Here is a list of things I don't believe in as result of scientific investigations I have read: Esp, telekinesis, astrology, demons, or clairvoancy. On the religious side of I don't believe the following: the FDS, Spiritual Israel, or any fullfillment of Daniel or Revelation in modern times.

I don't believe that all of the Bible is inspired. Since you do, explain how creationism can be correct and how the Noah story could be true. It simply couldn't happen. Also, I don't believe that using our intellect to question the internal logic of a belief system is insulting to a Diety as you do. Furthermore, I don't believe that empirical evidence that contradicts a belief system should be ignored either. Logical, one other point. The JWs used to publish a book "What has religion done for mankind?" I have to ask, what has religion done for you? It seems to me that you life is full of misery, based on what you write to us. You are full of hate, for youself and others.
Logical, you will not find salvation through the Bible, mds, or anyone else. Start using your own brain, get a job and make something of yourself. Perhaps, you Diety will look favorably on your efforts to make a contribution in this life time.

There used to be a newsletter published be a group of xJWs who are gay, but I haen't seen it for years. There also is a person who posts here who might be gay, based on his web site conntent. Perhaps you should supply an e mail address for any who would wish to contact you.

i am deceiding on becoming a jehovah's witness, but i need for information on the whole religion.

i need to talk to someone and ask questions.

9. If you become a Witness and do everything correctly you will live forever on a paradise earth.

10. You will not be allowed to celebrate the following: Christmas, New Years, St. Valintine's day, the 4th of July, Holoween, Thanksgiving, yours or anyone else's birthday. You should not visit your "wordly" friends and family during any of these events.

11. You shouldn't ask someone out for a date unless you intend to marry them, and you should only date another Witness.

what is revealed about the societys motivations regarding reporting (or not) of child abuse to secular authorities?

I think you came close to answering my question. However, there has to be more to your decision than you have explained so far. Again, why did you pick this particular group of "good people". Why not the Amish, per my recent post about them, or any other well meaning group?

I am puzzled as well. I you are not a "company man", why did you choose this particular organization to try to reform? Why is this you cause?
