  Seven,

  I found a book that you might look at: "How to Stubornly Refuse to Make Yourself Miserable About Anything, Yes Anything." by Albert Ellis. I know his method of psychotherapy and some of his earlier works. I am going to check my local libraries and read it. I do not know how good this particular book is, but I know his ideas are very sound.
  Tommorow, I might put up a crash course on his ideas.

  Who's to blame?

  when viv mouritz , former branch coordinator in australia, addressed the special meeting of sydney and surrounding area congregations at the superdome last weekend, he blamed the young witnesses who were leaving "the truth" for the drop in numbers in australia.. at the service meeting this week in one sydney congregation it was announced by a bethel elder that the elders have been told (as if they didn't know already!

  ) that 2,000 have left "the truth" in the past two years in australia.

  this typical congregation of 120 publishers has lost 19 inactive since 1999.. the march 2001 issue of kingdom ministry (australian edition) gives the number of publishers for december as 58,426, pioneers 3,315 and 19 baptized.. in dec '98 there were 58,706 pubs,and in dec '99 there were 58,000.. with 1,600-1,800 being baptized each year, there is indeeed a 2,000 shortfall.. so, who's to blame?

  Interpersonal Communication and Jehovah's Witnesse

  i am researching a report for an interpersonel communication class.

  i would appreciate any input on the following questions:.

  how have jw communication styles effected your interpersonal communication styles with non-jw's.. were you raised as a jw?.

  RenMan,

  I think you could answer the questions very well on your own without any help. First of all, in dealing with Non-JW': You have consumant training in the art of talking to "worldly people". You know how to overcome objections. You know the techniques of persuasion. You know how to use "tact", in other words, how to lie if you have to, so what else can we tell you?

  Your third question about commuication patterns that identify you as a Witness. You know as well as I do, that there are code words and ideas that you can use to determine if someone else is a Witness, used to be a Witness or an outsider pretending to be a Witness. (I ran into one of those once.)

  Your second question is the easiest. Yes I was raised as a Witness. One you didn't ask. Am I still a Witness? No, and I was not disfellowshipped, but I have been inactive for 35 years.
