I half dead brain cell that stored a memory was triggered when you mentioned a previous show. If it was the same one, I think they also mentioned going to hell if they took blood. I was thinking at the time: why don't they hire someone like you or me or Waiting or anyone on this board, fly us to California, put us in a first class hotel and pay us a thousand dollars an hour so they could get it right.

On a sadder note, anyone here could have told the government how to deal with David Koresh at Waco. What a tragedy. What a stupid waste of human life. My heart cried that day.

Frenchy and Scorpian,

What I took Scorpian to mean was that if you said that, they would give you your freedom, meaning you would be out of the Org. where freedom does exist. Of course, I may have misinterpreted the "word according to Scorpian."

This is a touchy time for Frenchy. How do you think you will handle the upcoming Elder meeting, Frenchy? You could lie, but even though I can be a pretty slick weasle when I want to, I don't know if I could lie to the two direct questions they are going to put to you.

You say that there are 1.8 billion Christians to spread the word. If you really believe what you say, why is it any concern what JWs believe or the Mormans or anyone else?

Thank you for telling us your religious affiliation. Obviously, this is not a religion that is familiar to us in the US. However, you message is very similiar to the Baptists and the Pentacostals in this country. The scriptures they quote and the personal testimony they give are identical to yours. These people DO NOT believe that there are 1.8 billion Christians. To the contrary, they believe that it is their job to bring these so-called Christians to the true religion, which of course, is their's.

Now, back to my first statement. If all are Christian, what does it matter what they believe, if they "love the Lord?" I would certainly take a blood transfusion, and I would authorize it for a loved one. Howvever, everyone has beliefs they are willing to die for, and if someone wants to die for something for their beliefs that's their perogative.

We here have heard the "one way" message before, in fact, most of us have espoused it. Yours is a different message, but has the same "one way" ideation. I think that if you really believe that we are all Christian, as you say, then I think you should concentrate your message on nonbelievers or non-Christians.

Why don't your preach your message to active JWs? Most of us here do not fit that category? Why do you mispell Jehovah? Why did you imply that you don't know much about JWs when you really do? Would you call that a "foot in the door" technique or lying? What brand of evangelical protestant are you? Don't tell me you don't go to a particular church, because, then I think you would be lying, unless, of course, you are trying to start a new religion, which we have seen already in our very presence. Why don't you go to a Kingdom Hall and ask for a Bible study, and debate scriptures with one of them. Why don't you quit quoting scriptures to us? Almost everyone here knows them as well or better than you do. Why don't you go read some other threads here about the blood issue, since we are not in the mood to defend a doctrine of the JWs because you want us to when most of us don't believe it. In short, you are preaching to the wrong congregation.

I forget the number, but I think you said there are 1.6 billion Christians. Now, you don't believe that now do you? I'll bet you believe the following are not Christian: JWs, Catholics, Unitarians and Lutherans. Am I right?

You said that the "we" in your comments refer to all who love the Lord. In that case, it really doesn't matter what JWs or anyone else believes. So why worry about their beliefs.

I don't know what Protestant religions are promenant in the UK, but in the US, people who use the kind of language that you do are usualy Baptist or Pentecostal on a mission to convert others. Also, the scriptures you quoted are quoted by these two religions on a regular basis. Every religion has its favorite quotes. Any thoughts on my obervations?

You said that you didn't know much about what JWs teach, but then later you said that they used the OT more than the NT. If you knew that, it seems that you know quite a lot about them.

You mentioned that the 144,000 were God's elect. Is that all that's going to heaven? That's only 72 per year from Christ's time to the present day. What say you?

Being from the US, I have no idea what you are talking about. Nice to have two countries separtated by a common language. I do have a question regarding the name sunderland that you mentioned. That was my grandmother's maiden name - hope that's not a bad thing.

I thing you're right. Most cases don't have enough detail to discern the validity of the charge of sexual abuse. The waters get muddy when JW elders take on the task of judge. In my opinion, any suspected case should be immediately turned over to the authorites. They make mistakes too, but the odds of getting at the truth is better than with the JW "system of things".

For example, interviewing children to get an acurate picture can be very tricky. Asking leading questions or asking explicite questions can prompt a child to give an answer to please the adult interviewer and may not represent what really happened. I think a well trained child psychologist should be used, not an elder to talk to the child. This is just one issue in a very complex problem. Children should not be damaged by sick adults. On the other hand, the lives of innocent adults should not be ruined by false accusations, sloppy investigations, and wrong conclusions. This does happen.

You brought up an extremely important issue. The case of the 2 year old and the nine year old and the case of the father accidently getting into the wrong bed illustrate that people can be falsely labeled when no wrong occured.
Society has to protect the children, but at the same time, it should not destroy people with false accusations.
I am really glad you brought this side of the issue to the forefront. I might add more thoughts of my own on this side of the subject, but I need to collect my thoughts and collect some quotes before I can add anything further.
