The Bible writers didn't do a very good job of proclaiming his name. They only mention it four times in the Old Testemant and not once in the new testement. Also, didn't the Jews believe that the name was so sacred that they shouldn't even pronounce it?
hello all.. this is a quote from an earlier conversation in the 1975 thread.. are you saying that the garden was weeded from those who put too much faith in "god's spirit-directed organization"?
did these people listen to too much of their "food at the proper time"?.
unfortunately, i never received a response from smartgirlpw, only insults of "boo boos" and truth hurting.. i would like to know if you personally (yes, i am asking for your opinion here, your pearls, or two cents) believe that you should not take very seriously what is stated in the wt publications, and if so, or even if not, please explain.. this was my original question before i lashed out at you for claiming we were having a pitty party and you began to lash out at me, java, pathofthorns, trevor, etc.
I find it hard to believe that you read all of smartgirls posts. First, she told some sad parts of her story, then when people tryed to sympathize, she lashed out at them. You said that she was objective and factual. I saw almost no facts and a very subjective bunch of put downs. I am not going to go back and pull out a bunch of her quotes, to give you proofs. The over all impression is clear in my mind after reading everything she wrote very carefully. On the hotest topic - 1975, by the way, everybody cooled and changed the subject. She seemed to be getting along fine at that point, so I have no idea why she decided to leave.
By the way, MDS you never did answer my question regarding what is going to happen at that the end of the 70 year period that began in 1931 and ends this year, that you talked about.
I lived in those days too, and believe me the flock took those words just as seriously as they do today. It was God's truth through the FDS, and they bought it all. I wish those who discount the impact on people this had, would go back and read the WT quotes "as if" they were living then and ask what they would think, or read it as if they were reading it today for the first time seeing the new light. They would welcome it with no reservations, as they always do.
I thought your letter was at the top of this page. What happed to it? Could you post it again for RHW and others to read. I think they would like it a lot.
You said that you told your husband you wished you didn't think so much. Well, I would rather think too much than think too little. Seeing things the the best you can may be disturbing, but I'd rather see it the way it is than not see it at all.
I though those were very good questions. You went beyond "What does this scripture mean," to "what does this whole thing mean?" They are not programmed to handle that. I wrote something similiar, here, under the subject of "Are you Ex's still Christion?" I would be interested in your reaction to my comments on page 2 of this discussion.
I love having my eyes wide open. I may see some ugliness that others miss, but the beauty I see more than makes up for it.
I always wanted to asked you if you liked Cajun and Zydeco music. I heard it live in Flint Michigan a couple years ago at a free festival-concert. All the white people were jumpen and movin and all the black people were wonderin what was going on, even though most of the people in the band were black, except for the white lead singer.
"Everywhere I go I love that Zydeco, although they play it slow, I love my Zydeco. Yes, yes, yes, I know I love that Zydeco."
Just jump in any time, and BTW why don't tell us a little about yourself. You know that thing about giving us some of your pearls. You know what Jesus said about that, about casting you pearls before swine? So be careful, but I have to tell you that there's not a swine amongst us. There might be a little piggy here and there.
Under your other nome, DF, you said that you had done your own research, and it was not convincing to you. What was the research you did? What did you read? I am sure that many folks here could provide you with many research sources that you would find highly stimulating.
I'm curious. Do you discuss your point of view with your bothers and sisters? I should think that your ideas would be considered apostate, by most, not just a few as you imply.
