Right on Terry. My wife and I remember that year. During that time period Franz was DF and the GB was growing stronger in their control. Wt. started having study articles on obeying the GB. This Big Red Flag came up in my wife and I conversations back then. We said to each other the day they replace Jesus with themselves is the day we better leave the WT. We say that happen more so in later years. I hope you are right about the fall of the WT empire in the near future. We know it is in decline. The dumbing down of the study articles is one reason. As a child in the 60's I remember all those so called deep bible propehesy articles we would study. Before we left the WT many were asking how come we don't have that anymore? At the time I could not tell them what I thought but my wife and I was already awake and making our move to leave. I think of all the money and time and sacrifice not having children or hurting their children because of the cult teaching. The sacrifice of not having good paying jobs or growing close as a family should. All these things this cult has caused. For me, all because my dad's cousin came over one day back in 1950 and gave him a WT to read. Fours years before I was born. My lifes was changed forever. Thanks Terry for this outlook on what could happen. Totally ADD

The decline and fall of the Watchtower empire..........
by Terry incharisma can work wonders.. it can be both entertaining or maddening to large crowds of eager listeners.. whole populations can be swayed by a silver tongue or mad ranting poison-sac attached to a man leading a movement.. .
the history of the watchtower society proves this.. leadership is tricky and movements are volatile.
those who made you can undo you too.. .

You did good Elbear. Oubliette Thankyou for the encouragement. It's been another day of knowing my chidren was done wrong by being raised in this cult. I sometimes think I will never be able to right the wrong. Only those of us truly understand the damage this cult has done. For many of us we will never be able to fix the things we did in the name of the GB. Some how my wife and I will have to rise above all of this. But it's going to be a long painful journey. Millions now living will never die - false prophecy yet?
by slimboyfat inrutherford wrote the booklet of that name in 1920. is that definitively a false prophecy yet?
even if everyone who was alive in 1920 survived armageddon, if it was to come today, would that amount to millions of people?
according to wikipedia there are 316,600 people who are a 100 years old or older.

According to their old belief. Those who was alive before or at 1914 would see all these prophecy take place. Oh well!!!! I forgot anything Russell said doesn't matter anymore. It should be titled "Millions now living are going to die someday." Totally ADD

The Mormons have end of the world stores so you can buy your survivor stuff for the end of the world. Of course like JW teaching only Mormons will make it. It sounds like some enterprising JW is trying to make a buck. Totally ADD

Jehovahs Witnesses and the Curse of Music.
by donny injehovahs witnesses and the curse of music.. .
i was inspired to write this after listening to a recent podcast of the thinking atheist by seth andrews.
as many of you know, seth was a devout christian who not only loved contemporary christian music but was one of the hosts of a popular morning show on kxoj in tulsa, oklahoma in the 1990s.

Flipper I love you even more. All those groups were the ones I liked also. I remember those elders on stage talking about how bad rock music was and didn't have a idea what it was about. There was one who said the only music you should listen to was country and western. I was in shock. All that sex and leaving someone for someone else. That was alright but don't listen to Pink Floyd "Dark side of the moon". After all we all know the dark side of the moon is demonic. LOL The WT could care less about anyones enjoyment. All they care about is your money and loyality to them. What great memorys you all brought up. My very first 8 track tape song I played in my 1970 plymouth duster was "Black Majic Women". It was great. I still love that song to this day. Blues Brothers right on man. Totally ADD

When did people of the Great Crowd start to appear?
by wizzstick inquick question, faithful followers of our treacherous hearts... .
i should know the answer to this but.... so the great crowd class were identified in 1935, but does the wt suggest when it's members first appeared on earth?
all first century christians were of the annointed (i think that's right), so when do they think the first of the great crowd rolled up?.

The book of revelation was written in signs and symbols. The WT has talked for years about that point. Except for some reason the number 144,000 is not. It is literal. If it was written in signs and symbols then all of it is symbolic not literal. So if it was me don't worry about 144,000 number or great crowd. Instead try to be the best you can be while on earth. Whaterever the future holds for us. It is all out of your hands. Only the now can we control. The WT has screwed up so many minds with their nonsense. Totally ADD

Cultural JWs
by wizzstick infollowing a comment by sapphy on another thread on cultural jws, it got me thinking about my circle of 30 something jw friends.. they fall into roughly two groups.
couples without kids, couples with kids.. the couples without kids are the most interesting.
they're mainly career types, but with one foot firmly in jw land.

I been in 6 congregation during my life and all of them was nothing like that. 50% old, 20% working poor, 20% with children and 10% real oddballs. Out of all those groups I mention about 50% to 70% had emtional problems of one kind or another. Wizzstick you must live in the NE or Cal. were there is some money. In a few congregation we would see maybe one or two couples who was doing good money wise. Totally ADD

I was at Patterson back in 2009 for elder school. When going home after the week I was talking to the driver of our van and he told me they was going to turn one of their very large indoor parking areas into a place to hold nothing but computer servers. I have often thought why would they do that. Now maybe your nightmare just might be a reality. Let's hope not. Totally ADD
