There you go...Allowing your imagination to fill the gap...where did I say leukemia?
All my comment meant is that 15 years old want to live but they can be coerced by their parents to do as they are told not to displease them and "God".
while doing work for a client in her office recently, we got into a light discussion about religion.
she knew i was one of jehovahs witnesses as our business relationship started while i was still a loyal and believing jw.
anyway, i said something that she knew didnt quite fit and she said ... i thought you were one of jehovahs witnesses ... i shared my story ... she felt comfortable to confide in me a story as to why, even though she has had dealings with jehovahs witnesses who she thinks are good people, she would never even consider listening to them about their religion.. i asked her if she would write it down for me so that i could share ... she agreed.. this is her experience.. .

People on this board are quick to correct others by spewing their wisdom on how one shouldn't give full credence to unsubstantiated...we weren't all born last night...
Adam, I was talking about the boy in my hall...I should know...both his dad and I held him when he died.

Adam, this is exactly the case with this boy. Doctors said he had a much greater chance to survive he was given blood treatment following intensive chemo and a bone marrow transplant. Nope said Jehovah...it will all be made better in the resurrection.

In our hall a 15 year old boy who wasn't yet a publisher and who barely commented more than a "yes" or "Jehovah" at meetings was coached by his parents to tell his doctors he didn't want any blood to treat his cancer. He got praises for his faithfulness by everyone in the congregation but he died...his parents consolation is that they're convinced blood wouldn't have saved him regardless...Any normal 15 year old would want doctors to do everything they can to save his life and still refuse treatment in fear of displeasing them...and Jehovah!
is there a thread already talking about this new issue?
i am looking for everyone's thoughts on the "generation", and if there is anything new with this understaning.. .
elder-schmelder.
Isn't the new spin that newly annointed ones who's lives did not overlap with those who lived in 1914 are not part of the "generation"? Their definition of generation has already morphed into something else to revive a sense of urgency. When the current "generation" passes away they will turn on their new light once again...
Cha Ching the time and expertise I devoted to the RBC is used at home now. I was always concerned that any money invested in improving my home would be perceived as "materialism" especially when all may be taken away during the persecutions...so why make our houses look overly nice.
even in the united states, where religion still enjoys perhaps the greatest popularity, nearly three out of four persons polled said that it is losing influence.
one of the reasons is that people are disturbed by what is happening in their churches.
yes, millions of persons have been shocked to learn that things they were taught as being vital for salvation are now considered by their church to be wrong.
Thanks...I attempted to reason with my wife on the need for a revised NWT when the current version is supposed to be the best translation ever...and I asked her why some verses were now rendered back to the same wording found in other versions? Johnb17; 3 being an example. Her reaction was that she didn't like my tone of voice while asking the question...
Have you ever had a friend who knows everything, who's always right, who will never accept advice, who'll have things his way or it's the highway, who accepts your generosity but never returns the favor, who robs you of time you should spend with your family, who gives you bad advice on education, career and planning for the future? One day you reach the breaking point and you tell him to f@$k off. That's how I feel about leaving the JWs. Unfortunately my buddy has poisoned the mind of many of my other friends and family and I am the one who is in the wrong! Still getting rid of him is such a relief.
Edit; just read Mr. Flipper's comment and I feel exactly the same way.
it cracks me up if you bring this subject up to a witness , they always try to convince themselves that i'm reading into this!!!.

My newly renovated kingdom hall was sold to a evangelical church so could build a new one.
okay i know that there are people who began careers in medicine, law, etc.
then later got into the truth.
i know that pursuing a higher education is not forbidden but a personal choice.
When your are a young JW your parents quickly kill your aspirations of being a firefighter, police officer, doctor or lawyer...in a short time "your" career of choice will be bethelite, full time pioneer and an elder if you are a male....the pursuit of any other goals is wordly or worthless in the eyes of JWs.
