  What are the worst pictures in My Book of Bible Stories?

  a few comments from muddy waters and mummatron on another thread peaked my curiosity and led me to revisit some of the illustrations in the my book of bible stories.

  i don't appear to have my old copy from when i was a child (thankfully), so i checked out the images over on watchtower.org where the entire book can be read online.

  the images below are taken from what is displayed on that website, although it wouldn't surprise me if there are equally awful images that haven't been used.. so which of the images below are the most grotesque and inappropriate for children?

  So great a topic! I was a comic nut all the way from 1980 to 1998. Was it the excess violence that made me stop buying? Hell no it was the frickin PRICE! So expensive comics are now. Now I just pick up the Showcase Presents and Marvel Essentials. A great hunk of comics at a fraction of the cost although in black and white. My favorites were Amazing Spiderman, JLA, Uncanny Xmen, Batman, Detective comics, Spectacular Spiderman etc.

  I had cancer in 97. Had NO appetite. Lost mucho weight. Marijuana pills helped tremendously. Marinol it is called. I am for legalizing it. Some of you believe in God right? How can a plant that he created be illegal?

  at one time most of us here identified as jws who follow the wbts gb/fds who claim to follow the bible etc.

  some of us are journeying to a new identity, others may feel they already have a new identity.. although we likely have gone in many different directions, we share a common past which only ex-members can really understand and explain.

  please could we each respectfully share and celebrate our unique perspectives of where we have come from, and where we each are now at on this journey?.

  OLD- Losing money like CRAZY! I.E. Throwing away DVD´s or VHS because they were ¨wrong¨ Then going out the next month and saying that I could still view it only to throw it away again because of a WT article....Burned through many a copy of Friday the 13th for that...Being depressed about Armaggeddon all the time...Judgemental etc. Losing $35,000 to a sister because I thought we could trust ones with our lives in the truth, brothers doing NOTHING to help me in that matter. She is still a ¨faithful¨ sister today. Never has she been counseled to pay me back etc.....Giving the CO money etc. Not having any worldly books, never getting self help books or how to books because Jehovah would have ¨taken care of us¨....Never working before because Dad supported me being a pioneer. Would never defend myself if attacked. Again Jehovah would have ¨protected¨ me....

  NEW- Holding onto money. Not throwing away things at all. Keeping my F13s! Not even giving money to bums anymore. Am free. Faded pretty successfully. Getting books I never would have gotten before. Getting selfhelp AND how to books. Am loving them! Experiencing the working world by opening up my own bar. It has been wonderful to see my creation come to life. Been over a year since I have stepped foot inside a kingdom hall. Think about self defense all the time. Exploring the survival boards and really getting into it. I have released my inner redneck.

  The Watchtower is NOT a false prophet

  regarding what some have said here about the wt being a false prophet.. i would like to make my point regarding the wt not being a false prophet... so please, if you can be patient enough to read this, at least try to understand what i am getting at.. a false prophet is one who, according to deuteronomy, makes a false prediction of the future and claims that the prediction came from god, or in other words claiming that 'god has said he will do a certain thing at a certain time' etc.. for example, hypothetically speaking, if someone had claimed: "god will bring about the end of the world in 2010", they would have been proven to be a false prophet, obviously.

  but, as an example, imagine a man who claimed the position of a prophet of god, (as moses did, because although he was not the type of prophet that predicted the future.. he was still a prophet or spokesman for god) and that he had publicised worldwide, according to his interpretation of a (for example) prophecy found in the book of isaiah, that the world would end in 2010.. and he had also stated that he was not saying that god will end the world in that year.. but only that there was biblical evidence that god might do so.

  that would clearly have been a mistake.

  So "The Quiet One" now has a problem with my domestic abuse article...

  sorry about this, i generally don't like confrontation of any kind, but a situation has arisen on another thread, and i thought i would give the quiet one the opportunity to explain her reasons as to why she dislikes my article on domestic abuse without hijacking someone else's thread in the process.. the sad thing is, i had an entire thread devoted to publicizing this article and receiving feedback, but he/she chose not to say anything on that thread, but have a go at me on an entirely unrelated thread.. anyway, i'm copying and pasting the whole conversation so that both sides of the argument can be seen.. a copy of the offending article can be found here: "'won without a word' - at what cost?".

  i'm not necessarily asking anyone else to join in the discussion, although you are welcome to do so if you wish to add anything.

  the purpose of this thread is to give "the quiet one" the platform that he/she evidently craves to criticize the article in public (i have offered to discuss this over pms, but that offer hasn't been taken).. so anyway, sorry about this folks... (sigh).

  Says one that receives a messege from a divine being....So quiet one...Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
