DEMONS SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!!!!
by Liberty insince most of us here are ex-jws i'm sure we all have been scared of demons at one time or another as their touted reality is a basic cornerstone of the watch tower philosophy.
gossip and rumors dealing with demon attacks are encouraged by the society in local congregations and such stories frequently appear in watch tower publications to further strengthen the argument that demons are real and are ready at any opening to "demonize" us if we fall short of deserving "jehovah's protection" or foolishly venture beyond the protection of "jehovah's organization".. since belief in demonic beings is so widespread inside the jw community, current or ex, many have reported encounters with these minions of satan.
i take these reports seriously, for the most part, knowing how real demons once seemed to me i can easily believe that someone with a similar jw background may think that they really are the victims of such supernatural forces.

The WTS beliefs that demons can invade Witness homes because they are inhabiting *things* that may be brought into the home is pure superstition and makes no sense whatsoever.
Several years ago I bought several neck ties at a garage sale. The fellow holding the sale happened to be a preacher, although I didn't know it. Well, I gave one of the ties to the PO and guess what, his wife became depressed. They didn't know what to blame it on until they learned the orgin of the tie. Thanks for the memories Bendrr. Bill

If they should rule out the heart and gall bladder, please have them check for a stomach ulcer. I had one several years ago and it hurt in the exact manner you have described. This is not anything to play around with, so keep after them until they find it. Bill

Terrorists get 70 Virgins in Heaven?
by Lin ini heard on the radio this morning that the terrorists believed that once they got to heaven, they each would be given 70 virgins to enjoy for all eternity.
hmmmm, i wonder how long it took the terrorists to figure out virgins in heaven aren't all females!
serves em right i say.

What would any man do with 70 inexperienced virgins?? I would prefer a 30 year old female who runs a liquor store and owns a boat. Please send picture of the boat.

Dishonourable to NOT attack terrorism - NYFD
by Celtic inmy opinion on america's war on terrorism is changing these past few days or so, so much so, that now i would see it as negating our responsibilities if we did not act against terrorism at it's root.
considering the 9/11 attacks just for now.
here we have, within a very small comparatively speaking, airliner, - with completely opposing polarities of thought dimension on board, (love and hate).

There are those in the world who just cannot understand that evil exists and that someone must do something to stop it. Reasoning with these people is not the answer because they have their own agenda and reason is not a part of it. The British learned that prior to ww2 when Chamberlin tried to reason with Hitler. We all know the result of that effort. Welcome back from the dark side Mark. Bill

I was 12 or 13 yo when my mother dedided I would make a great walking billboard on Polk street in Amarillo. I can remember feeling like a complete idiot and would have rather been anywhere but in Amarillo at that time. Ken, thank you for the memories, but please don't bring this up again.

What kind of genre are you?
by joannadandy ini have no idea why this thought came to me but i made all my coworkers describe themselves by comparing themselves to a genre of music.
so what kind of music would you be?
please note i did not say what kind of music you like, but rather what style of music best represents who you are.

The Earth Summit/USA/ a 'Christian' Democracy?
by Celtic inhas anyone been following events at the 2002 earth summit on sustainable development?.
question.. if, just supposing that the united states of america was totally true to it's collective overall 'spirituality', would it be able as a country, to live up to the dictates of the country's own conscience, in acting out truthfully in accordance with what god himself expects of them to provide, to the best of their abilities, i.e.
really trying to do something about it all, rather than, side lining, procrastinating the big issues, whilst at the same time, being the largest consumeristic polluters of natural resources on the planet?.

BTW rather than taking the question so personally, and then formulating such a daft response, consider first that the question raised IS NOT pointing the finger, rather it was/is just a question, nothing more, nothing less. Or are we not allowed to ask questions of this type anymore?
Mark,
No. 1, Megadudes answer was not "daft". It was well thought out and apparently you are unable to address the points he made.
No. 2, Of course you are allowed to ask questions, but Megadude is allowed to address those questions, rather you agree with him or not.
No.3, You mentioned the oil industry. I've made my living from that oil industry my entire life and I can hardly be considered rich. In short the industry creates thousands of jobs here in the U.S. and I for one am glad that is the case.

Transitions after leaving the borg..experiences?
by LyinEyes ini am just going to put this out here to see how you all feel about this.......... here goes............... do you think that being a jw , especially raised in it, has taken away your chance of ever trusting yourself ever again in regards to what you believe in?
i mean , you can read books, many by very educated men/women, you can read every bible printed, you can read every self help book, but do you find yourself at times just not caring anymore?
i mean once your trust has been broken, what is the point in reading another man's version of what truth/reality is?

Dede, I receive my spiritual satisfaction by drinking coffee on the patio early in the morning and listening to the birds, viewing a beautiful sunset, watching a bird eating outside outside my window, taking my camera and looking for what may turn out to be a good pic, associating with fellow ex JW's just for starters. Visiting my kids, learning new things, reading a good book. The earth is a beautiful place, enjoy it. Bill

Dear Flower
It is highly unlikely I can add a whole lot to what has already been said, but I think you may have learned one thing, you have a world of support on this forum. Would love to meet and visit with you eyeball to eyeball but that is not likely to happen anytime soon as you are 2000 miles from us Texans. Meanwhile, keep your chin up and try not to get discouraged. Bill
