I hope this new light wakes up my wife before we both go nuts. What a lousy cult.

What Made You Question "The Truth"?
by minimus inin the the early 1970's, i used to enjoy going to assemblies, conventions and hear special talks given by bethel heavies.. in those days, we were believers and we applied ourselves as "ministers" with pride.. once the "end" was obviously not within our "generation", many of us started losing interest.. we started to think more critically.
it took a long time but once you start recognizing the bullsh*t, it's hard to stay in and truly believe at the same time.. .

The failed 1975 prediction and then being told that the members were at fault for running ahead of themselves. Also the 1914 Generation definition changes.

If JW's Could Recruit Everyone in the World to Their Religion, We'd All Die and Be a Bunch of Miserable Amoebas!
by CrimsonBleu inthere would be no doctors to help us.. there would be no teachers to teach us.. there would be no engneers to build things.. their would be no electricians to electrify things.. there would be no great chefs to masterfully create awesome meals.. there would be no accountants to help keep books balanced.. there would be no vets to help keep our pets healthy.. there would be no chemists to do all the chemistry things that make so many things we use.. there would be no scientists to dazzle us with new discoveries.. there would be no hubble space station, and how could we possible appreciate the glory of god if we couldn't see beyond our nose?.
i bet you can think of lots of things i can't...but you get my drift!!!.
we'd all be sitting around, huddled into our little tight knit bundles of bible study banter rehashing the same old verses day after day, and never ever come to any understanding at all about how grand our world is, how insanely huge this entire universe is and not to mention the other universes besides this one, nor could we grasp what other planets are like without higher education.

Slow fade vs instant fade
by tenene ini guess i'll never find out what it is like to fade slowly since i chose the instant route.. just wondering which one is easier, emotionally.. .

I prefer slow fade so i can stay under the radar so to speak. It seems to be working well. If some day i am approached by an Elder i might be tempted to tell him to mind his own business. lol

Why did you become a Jehovah's Witness ?
by Gnosis inwhy did you become a jehovah's witness ?.
initially upon entering the religion what were the positive things you experienced ?.
how did that particular way of thinking both benefit and harm you ?.

Peer pressure from family because the big "A" was coming in 1975. All a lie.

No more blood card
by lostinthought inwhat a day!
first of all one of my electronic devises broke so the store said they would replace it i just needed to show id, i removed my license from my wallet and saw my blood card staring me in the face i couldn't stand looking at it so i took it and crumpled it up and threw it away, upon leaving the store i had a car accident it the parking lot, nobody was terribly injured but it was my fault so i feel bad...but i also feel elated that i tore up the card, what if i had a really bad accident and i needed blood?
what could have happened to me?

I shreded my card after I accepted blood fractions back in 2002 and 2004 when I needed Mitril heart valve surgery. And to my surprise the WT$ now finds blood fractions acceptable.Dam cult.

607 and 1914
by snowbird inthose are just symbols that indicate a numerical value, but to me, they mean much more than that.. my clock showed 6:07 as the time a few minutes ago, and i immediately thought of 607 bce.. a friend's address is 1914 neighbor road - guess what comes to mind.. crazy, isn't it?.
lol..
