But what kind of Greek does Jason BeDuhn teach? That's important.

NWT: "Most accurate translation" -Who says?
by Leto ini remember when i was a witless, i spouted the words "it's the most accurate translation".... i'm sure you did too :).
i've been researching the topic of just how badly the nwt is mistranslated.
i keep finding more and more examples of blatant mutilation of scriptures in the nwt.. for the record, i love to know just where are they finding these "scholars" to prop up their assertions that their joke of a bible is the "most accurate"?

A rhetorical analysis of the Sept. KM Question Box
by Leolaia insome have pursued an independent group study of biblical hebrew and greek so as to analyze the accuracy of the new world translation.
they have also held conferences and produced publications to present their findings and to supplement what is provided at our christian meetings and through our literature.. throughout the earth, jehovah's people are receiving ample spiritual instruction and encouragement at congregation meetings, assemblies, and conventions, as well as through the publications of jehovah's organization.
rather, the claim is implicit.

P.S. Bookmark it! That site is moronic! It took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to get PDFs again instead of MP3s. But then again, maybe I'm the moron, lol!

How many times can you be rejected for reinstatement ??
by Pitchess Co-Gen inok lets say you get disfellowshipped and because of a disagreement with your "home elders"; you move to another congregation ( i already know about the "rule" where your publisher card stays with you old congregation ).
now lets say you want to come back, but your old congregation keeps rejecting you request for reinstatement ( 3 or more times ).
is there a rule that says that after the fourth rejection the decision to reinstate goes to the new congregation ?

Pitchess,
I wasn't trying to make light of your situation by being sarcastic. I just re-read how that sounded. I'm sorry you're going thru this. They're so pharisaical, it's enough to make you scream. How many letters do you have to write before they determine you're repentent enough to come back? Is there a reason in particular that the old congr elders don't want to reinstate you that you feel comfortable sharing? Someone here might be able to give you advice on how to use that to help yourself.

Yeah, Mr. Freeze. It's in 2 Cor. The man who got df'd for sleeping with his mother in law submitted a letter 3 times to Paul seeking reinstatement. Paul finally got fed up with it, as he had other more important things to do, and said his punishment was sufficient he could be reinstated. But he wasn't allowed to share his gifts of the spirit or hold the scrolls (or was it a codex?) or count the attendance at gatherings for at least six months. That's all in 2 Cor. 2: 5-8.

Will there be cars in the New System?
by laverite ingrowing up as a jw i always imagined the new system (tm) as being just like it's presented in the literature (tm).
i thought we'd all be hanging around with dorky looks on our faces, petting tigers and panda bears all day while we eat fruit and practice our dorky grins.. i've never seen a pic from the society (tm) showing cars or planes (or other forms of transport) in the literature (tm).
what did you imagine as far as transportation in the new system (tm)?

Yes, there will be cars. But they'll be the Flintstone kind. Sole-powered!

Goodbye.
Feel better, donnye? We're so glad to have entertained you! Maybe you felt guilty, having conversed with those who "feed from the table of demons" and here was a way to alleviate some of that guilt by calling others failures and laughing at their hurt and suffering. In any case, remember that it's not wrong to question what you believe and any religion that tells you otherwise has something to hide. You're responsible for your own faith, you don't get out of that because you followed men and were misled. You might want to consider Galatians 5. No amount of service, meeting attendance, or obediance to rules will save you. If that were the case, you wouldn't need Jesus at all. Good luck on your journey!

Should the Watchtower get an official facebook, twitter or youtube page? (Cause people dont read magazines nowadays)
by Joliette ini was thinking about mormons .
(they have a channel on youtube) and how other religions seem to be moving with the times, while jw's are still stuck on going door to door witnessing, street corner (while people are trying to get to work, not trying to be bothered with someone giving them a magazine about religion) passing out magazines, doing telephone witnessing, and letter writing.. most people dont even read magazines anymore (most people dont even have magazines subscriptions anymore) the majority of people are on the internet (or on their cell phones texting and chatting) on these websites (ex: facebook, twitter, youtube, etc).
if the message is so urgent, lifesaving, and life altering, why wont the watchtower 'get with times' sort of speak.

Sir82,
There's a couple of them. The ones run by actual JW's are now request to join only, they check your fb page for proof that you're really a JW first. Every JW page that was open got infiltrated, lol! Fun to watch.
