Personally, I don't care if the person running has chipped of his dick or added a dick.... or added two dicks.
What matters is the policy.
remember when caitlyn jenner came out as a trans woman a few years ago?.
it was stunning and brave, i'm sure you'll agree.. well, a good portion of her congratulators are now dreading the prospect of jenner becoming california governor.. you see, jenner is a republican, and has come out and said that trans women competing in women's sports is unfair (which is correct and a breath of fresh air).. so now trans people and their allies are getting ready with the smelling salts in case transwoman caitlyn jenner wins the race.

while we are talking about economic stimulus i thought i’d bring up the $15 minimum wage.
pros and cons?.
Corporations do not pay taxes. The employees and/or the customers do.
How is taxing more going to help wages?
All these schemes (from minimum wage to sales taxes to income taxes to maximum wage) amount taking water from the deep end of the pool and adding to the shallow end - spilling half the bucket in the process.

Why the obsession with taxing? The purpose of an economy is to create goods and services, and not just any goods and services, but the ones people want and can afford. The sales tax would apply at every level of production, just making everything more expensive. This thread was created with wages in mind. If you want REAL wages to go up (not just nominal wages), and you want the stuff to cost less through greater supply, do tax industry. Also, a maximum wage will halt investment at a certain point, slowing production even more.
In other words, the purpose for higher wages is to afford more things. Taxing production will go counter to that goal. Also, the money is just funneled to the most wasteful institutions possible.

One major grocery decided to go ahead and just start pay $15.00 an hour starting wage even though minimum wage is $7.25.
I bet you will find that most people make over the minimum wage. My question here is, what was the grocer paying before, 14.75 (even though the minimum wage was 7.25)?
More importantly, why do you suppose that anyone would make over the minimum wage?

Again, it comes back to prices. Where do they come from? What information do prices contain?
If a small diner, for example, in a small town advertises a job for $7.25, why is there this assumption that it could be $15 of only the owner weren't so greedy? It more likely that the job pays 7.25 because that's all that can be paid for that job, and if it's forced to $15, something has got to give. The owner can't lose money, or else the diner eases to exist. So, prices will rise, or the position will be eliminated entirely. If prices must rise to a point where the revenue drops (the coffee is now too expensive), it collapses. But, I guess that small diner wasn't "good enough" to exist?

@mynameislame:
What is a "decent" wage? Also, who decides if business models are "good" or "bad"?
For example, I'm sure Walmart wouldn't mind raising their lowest wage to $30/hr as long as you are willing to also allow them to cut their staff and raise prices. Do you think it's "good" if this occurs?

pros and cons?.
Setting minimum wage, maximum wage, interest rates, etc. is an exercise in price fixing.
The better question : What are prices, what is their function, and is it EVER good to engage in fixing the price by law?

If we had a minimum wage of $150/hr, then we would all be a wealthy as lawyers, right?
we do talk a lot about how this site doesn’t center on all things jw.
so what would you like to discuss?.
the floor is yours..
@stan: Correct. It's an asshole move on their part, for sure. What next?
