Real Jehovah's Witnesses (djeggnog, StandFirm, etc), I'm trying to understand you.
by pirata ini'm an active jehovah's witness.
i've obviously lost my faith, that's why i don't feel bad posting here anymore.
i'd probably be disfellowshipped as a division causing, teaching, apostate, faster than you can say "maher-shalal-hash-baz" (isaiah 8:1), should it be found out that i was posting here and did not repent of the things i've said and stop participating in this forum.

Livingbreeze asks: "What is the true gospel (good news) message?
The true gospel is that: Christ (The Messiah, Lord of Lords, King of Kings, the Holy One of Israel, The Only Begotten of God) died for our sins according to the scriptures and was raised on the third day, for our justification...so that whosoever believes (puts their trust) in Him (not, has all the religious facts down pat or finds the right organization and associates with it) will not perish, but have everlasting life...not by works of righteousness which they have done but absolutely by His grace (getting something undeserved) and mercy (not getting what is deserved).
Salvation is something He earned and merited for us. Such love demands our life and continual thankfulness and obedience. But in times of failure, those who put their trust in Him, have the sweet GOSPEL assurance of I John 1:9
If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to FORGIVE us our sins, and CLEANSE us from ALL Unrighteousness.
Christs atonement provides perfectly for all past sins, current faults and imperfections, and guarantees us an eternal destiny (eternal life). The gospel is that nothing that is confessed and forgiven will ever be brought up again...(ever) and yet all the good, every cold glass of water, every smile, every word of faith spoken and written etc. for the love of God and others, will not be lost but is treasured for us in the heavenly realm to be revealed at the right time.
No one has perfect doctrine. No one has been sinless save the Son of Man to whom we all have to answer. He is the Way, the Truth, the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Him. The gospel is, we can come to the Father through the Son. Jesus invites us to come to Him, to call on Him, to receive Him, to fellowship with Him (scriptures provided on request) so we can know Him, not take in information about Him, but live in relationship, (vital union) sharing our weaknesses and cares with Him.
He alone can give you the strength to live holy and bear much fruit, of love, joy, peace
He stands at the door of your heart awaiting your invitation to save you and fill you with His goodness. This is the gospel

The great tribulation ended in 70 AD with the destruction of Jerusalem. The second coming, "that day" will occur during normal time when people are carrying on life as usual and no one suspects His arrival.

Another site suggests, generally speaking, people think of cults when they see a group like this.
Everyone believes in the same things
People are afraid to question beliefs or disagree
Beliefs are radically different than those of people outside their group
Everyone has complete trust in their leader or leaders
Control is tight. Rules are strict and must be followed
Cult members feel superior to outsiders
It is difficult to leave

I recently found the following on-line Ten warning signs of a potentially unsafe groups...that many think of as characteristics of cults of Christianity.
- Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability.
- No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry.
- No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement.
- Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies and persecutions.
- There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil.
- Former members often relate the same stories of abuse and reflect a similar pattern of grievances.
- There are records, books, news articles, or television programs that document the abuses of the group/leader.
- Followers feel they can never be "good enough".
- The group/leader is always right.
- The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing "truth" or receiving validation, no other process of discovery is really acceptable or credible.
Others might include things like: Unique and original teachings not found in the Bible; Promoting commandments of men...making them requirements for God's approval, baptism and/or the basis for disfellowship; Needlessly endangering the life and health of members; Claiming unique divinely granted ability and authority to interpret the Bible for mankind. Certainly, if one must place faith in the leadership of an organization to assure salvation, that organization is a cult in the pejorative sense of the word.

"Do NOT go beyond the things written (but we can)."
by TimothyT ini was doing some research yesterday on this scripture: 1 corinthians 4:6!.
"now, brothers, these things i have transferred so as to apply to myself and a?pollos for your good, that in our case you may learn the [rule]: do not go beyond the things that are written, in order that you may not be puffed up individually in favor of the one against the other.".
read this from the watchtower 2008, april 15th, page 7:.

LOL, truth be told, their religion is extra-biblical. In fact every doctrine which is unique and original to Jehovah's Witnesses goes beyond what is written.
This includes the entire foundation of WTS authority; their shifting eschatology, their unique requirements for Christian baptism and their unique grounds for disfellowship and man-made commandments.

The Watchtower Proselytizer's road to hell
by Nickolas inthere is an old proverb that says the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
take heed.. how many people have you harmed in your life, even when you didn't intend to?.
former witnesses on this board have expressed regret and shame for having gone door to door luring people into the watchtower.

1914 Doctrine is FALSE -- Questions for JW's
by UnDisfellowshipped inis there any jehovah's witness who can answer these questions about 1914?.
can you demonstrate, using the holy scriptures, that the messianic kingdom was established in 1914, that jesus got the full legal right to become king that year, and that jesus returned invisibly in 1914, and that the "last days" began that year?.
1:) no encyclopedia, no history book, and no archaeology book that i have ever seen have ever said that nebuchadnezzar destroyed jerusalem and the temple in the year 607 bce.

A JW writes....or pastes rather
"It's "biblical." How so?
While it's true you won't find a specific date ( 1914 ) in Scripture, we do find this:
As recorded at Luke 21:24, Jesus said: "Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations, until the appointed times of the nations [ "the times of the Gentiles," KingJamesVersion] are fulfilled." Jerusalem had been the capital city of the Jewish nation---the seat of rulership of the line of kings from the house of King David. (Psalm 48:1, 2) However, these kings were unique among national leaders. They sat on "Jehovah's throne" as representatives of God himself. (1 Chronicles 29:23) Jerusalem was thus a symbol of Jehovah's rulership.
How and when, though, did God's rulership begin to be "trampled on by the nations"? This happened in 607 B.C.E. when Jerusalem was conquered by the Babylonians. "Jehovah's throne" became vacant, and the line of kings who descended from David was interrupted. (2 Kings 25:1-26) Would this 'trampling' go on forever? No, for the prophecy of Ezekiel said regarding Jerusalem's last king, Zedekiah: "Remove the turban, and lift off the crown. . . . It will certainly become no one's until he comes who has the legal right, and I must give it to him." (Ezekiel 21:26, 27) The one who has "the legal right" to the Davidic crown is Christ Jesus. (Luke 1:32, 33) So the 'trampling' would end when Jesus became King.
When would that grand event occur? Jesus showed that the Gentiles would rule for a fixed period of time. The account in Daniel chapter 4 holds the key to knowing how long that period would last. It relates a prophetic dream experienced by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. He saw an immense tree that was chopped down. Its stump could not grow because it was banded with iron and copper. An angel declared: "Let seventimes pass over it." --- Daniel 4:10-16.
In the Bible, trees are sometimes used to represent rulership. (Ezekiel 17:22-24; 31:2-5) So the chopping down of the symbolic tree represents how God's rulership, as expressed through the kings at Jerusalem, would be interrupted. However, the vision served notice that this 'trampling of Jerusalem' would be temporary---a period of "seven times." How long a period is that?
Revelation 12:6, 14 indicates that three and a half times equal "a thousand two hundred and sixty days." "Seven times" would therefore last twice as long, or 2,520 days. But the Gentile nations did not stop "trampling" on God's rulership a mere 2,520 days after Jerusalem's fall. Evidently, then, this prophecy covers a much longer period of time. On the basis of Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6, which speak of "a day for a year," the "seven times" would cover 2,520 years. The 2,520 years began in October 607 B.C.E., when Jerusalem fell to the Babylonians and the Davidic king was taken off his throne. The period ended in October 1914. At that time, "the appointed times of the nations" ended, and Jesus Christ was installed as God's heavenly King. --- Psalm 2:1-6; Daniel 7:13, 14.
Just as Jesus predicted, his "presence" as heavenly King has been marked by dramatic world developments --- war, famine, earthquakes, pestilences. (Matthew 24:3-8; Luke 21:11) Such developments bear powerful testimony to the fact that 1914 indeed marked the birth of God's heavenly Kingdom and the beginning of "the last days" of this present wicked system of things.--- 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
