Just remembered a conversation I had with my father.

when i started my fade i called my father to talk to him about some stuff that was bothering me.

i got absolutely nowhere.

he read matthew 24:45-47. i finally asked him that if the governing body asked him to jump off of a bridge would he do it.

My daughter attacks me instead of addressing whatever I say! Drives me nuts .....so I understand what you are saying FloodGuy. I just can't be credible in her eyes, every word I say is translated into a negative in her mind! The stronger her shunning becomes the sadder & more depressed I become! How dare those ugly cult leaders take my own child away!!!!! Did they give birth to her? Did they raise her, go thru chicken pox, influenza and measles with her, or stay up all nite at the hospital with her! Oh I am so indignant over this I could go on forever!

Celebrating Holidays Should Be a "Conscience Matter"

the witnesses seem to love to make things a "conscience matter" and then just shame people into doing whatever it is they want them to do anyway.

so, why haven't they done this with the holidays?

there are plenty of scriptures in their own bible they could use to justify making it a conscience matter, yet the last i knew, celebrating christmas was still a disfellowshipping offense.

The whole point for Rutherfords condemnation of any holiday, is control! To keep the rank& file from associating with non jw family. Celebrating xmas or thanksgiving dinner with our 'folks' would be too enjoyable ...we might choose family over watchtower. Our family would eventually wake us up!

Reading your words make me feel proud to associate with you on here ...even though this is a very limited association. After the grief caused me by WT, just wanted to say thank you dear man for giving me back my faith in mankind.

Anyone else remember how proud the org. was, when they touted that they were not like Christendom, in that they never asked for donations, never would, and would never have to, due to their confidence in God's support?

Pearl ..........oh ya ...I remember! The most attractive thing about the witnesses was when they declared that NO COLLECTION Plates will ever be passed in the kh! No asking for money. Ever! The day they ran out of money ...that would be the day they would close! Then slowly more & more money shortfalls at the conventions "started happening" ! More Real Estate was gobbled-up. Until now the money is their god!

I was so happy many years ago when the 'watchtower ladies' told me that I would be set free from superstition if I studied with them. Wow,I said ..no more being afraid of ghosts & things that go bang in the nite, ... hey that's great!!!! Well that whole thing just became bigger as they started in about SATAN the DEVIL!!! Omg only a culty religion can make up worse stuff in order control with fear.

so today's wt seems to put out the idea that during early christian times it was god's hand that made the romans build roads, have strong laws, etc.

to make the preaching easier.. anyone else notice that?

some here really banged on about how great it was that god did that, just for them.

The shift: from follower to wanting to leave

this week has been the week when my whole way of thinking shifted.

i still cannot believe how this can happen so fast.

over a period of seven days i went from not even imagining that i could ever not be a witness to wanting to get out of this organisation.. .

Congratulations on your awakening!

For me it was like waking up from a bad dream and as I researched each awful belief, I saw that none of it was true! It was just a nightmare!!!! No god trying to kill me, no armageddon waiting for us all. Those 'men' had no more right to control anyone than the man in the moon! LIFE just opened up and became wonderful with so many possibilities ......instead of the constant drudgery & meetings with only more of the same tomorrow. The only reward was to pioneer, and DO even MORE! Becoming the elders full time spy & their favorite (sucker) was the only pay off!

Welcome to your real life, don't waste a minute of it by being afraid of any elders or old ideas. Keep quiet about things until you have a chance to adjust to NORMAL, it does take some time.
