I messed up again... Opened my mouth... oh well, we'll see where the cards end
by ILoveTTATT inso i hadn't talked to my friends on facebook for a while because i had been too busy on my page (now two pages) and my job, and my girlfriend.
so i go on my fb account yesterday and i start talking to a "bible study" i had had while in mexico... after learning ttatt, i have dreamed of ways to tell him and his family to stay away from jw's, but i hadn't had the courage to do so because of a) wanting to get my family awakened first, and b) noticing the horribly bad reaction of the very few people i have actually talked to (three persons).... but anyways, i felt the need to tell him, the "bible study"... he is around 15. his mom was inactive for many years until we found her in "service" and then we started her on a study and she came back... at the time, i thought i was doing a correct thing, if i had known ttatt, no way in hell i would have done that.
now it hurts my conscience, although to my credit, i had no idea of ttatt.. so his mom, him, his brother and sister are all in some way or another associating with jw's.. i wasn't intending to talk to him about ttatt, it just happened.... yesterday we started a conversation (a is him, b is me):.

Hi ILoveTTATT, Does your friend know how to contact your parents? If not, don't worry be happy, because he is 15 years old. Teenagers are more likely to rebel against the WTBTS than other age groups. Also, he probaly hasn't had enough time to be fully indoctrinated.
Does he understand English? Have you sent him links to either Spanish or English websites such as www.jwfacts.com, www.jwstruggles.com, and/or www.freedomofmind.com?
Good job on reverse witnessing, but please be more careful or go more slowly. You could have given him more information about the Mormons to show that they are a dangerous cult by refering him to links on www.freedomofmind.com, if he understands english, or translate the information for him. Once he understands about BITE control, he should be able to critically think for himself about the WTBTS.
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

My wife and thanksgiving
by DS211 inso my wife and i chatted about thanksgiving last night and decided were going to celebrate it.
she was reluctant at first but i then brought out that according to the bible that we shouldnt judge nor be judged on celebrating a festival because we are also still giving thanks to god for the life we have.
i know many witnesses are on the fence on whether thanksgiving is politicak or pagan or whatever, but its no e of those.

Hi DS211, Thanksgiving is an awesome time to spend with good friends and family. Unfortunately, JWs would probably not participate because of the WTBTS. Best of wishes helping your wife to have an awesome time - alcohol might help her to loosen up.
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

How I recently handled JWs at my door
by Christian guy inthe jws stopped by my house a couple weeks ago on a saturday morning.
i knew that with others most likely waiting for them out in the car they probably did not then have much time to engage in any serious conversation.
so i let them talk while i feigned interest in what they had to say.

Welcome Christian guy, Interesting tactic and scriptures to help JWs to think. I hope that you post whether the JWs return in the future. Also, if your intentions are to help JWs to critically think for themselves, I compliment you on your intentions.
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

Hi jhine, Anyone can twist most printed material (especially writings that are translated to another language and written ~2,000 yrs ago) by taking words out of context and cherry-picking phrases. I would not bother debating a JW about their beliefs because it just makes them believe that they are right because they are being persecuted.
Have you read any of Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", (or his latest book) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs"), visited his website www.freedomofmind.com, or watched his videos on his website? If you don't have time to read Steve Hassan's Books, I would recommend that you watch one of the following videos: Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23), NY Ethical Culture Society February 2013 (41:09), NY Ethical Culture Society 2010 (40:56).
If enough strangers tell JWs (or other members of dangerous cults) that they belong to a dangerous cult and to do their own independent research as to what a dangerous cult is, JWs might become curious enough to learn about Steve Hassan's BITE control model and start to critically think for themselves. As long as JWs fear the WTBTS's Shun Gun, JWs will never critically think for themselves. That is the power of BITE control!

Progress made with dad... but he still believes in the blood doctrine
by ILoveTTATT inso.... my spiritual journey has led me to agnosticism, i really have a hard time believing that the bible, with so many contradictions and errors, and worse, with so many people trying to change its contents and who have actually achieved it, can be god's word.. i personally believe that i should just "do what i do" and live by the motto "yolo" (kidding).... no but really, i believe that i should just try to use my common sense to determine if something is right or if it is wrong.
with that, many things are simplified.
opening the door for someone that walks by?

Hi ILoveTTATT, Help your father to critically think for himself.
How about asking your Dad, "How many WTBTS doctrines do you feel are in error? Why? Isn't the Blood Doctrine based on Acts 15:29 and interpretations of the OT? According to the Bible were the Jews God's choosen people in the OT? Before Jesus Christ, shouldn't the Jews understand what God wanted in the Bible? Are you willing to research why Jews accept blood transfustions today? Do you want me to help show you how to search the internet for information?"
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

jhine - As the action of shunning was brought up , I have some problems with this because when I ask local JWs about this they point out that scripture says that if someone is sinning and will not repent then to paraphrase slightly ;-
" the person should be removed from the protection of the church " , . . .
Can anyone shed any light on what this instruction should translate into in actuality ? I know that the writer did not mean for Christians to behave in the barbaric way that the org does , splitting families and ruining lives. But this is one subject that I do feel at a loss to discuss with Witnesses .
Hi jhine, Have you asked your local JWs to tell you which scripture that the WTBTS is using to justify its shunning policy or have you started another thread asking other JWN members that question. IMHO the WTBTS is twisting what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 5:9-11. If you read all of 1 Corinthians you should find plenty of scriptures to refute the WTBTS's shunning policy for JWs who no longer believe that the WTBTS has the truth. I would also recommend that you read a study bible with annotations by biblical scholars to better understand the times and circumstances that influenced Paul's writings. Also, Paul was Saul and therefore influenced by his Jewish education that may have influenced his writings about women, shunning, and the importance of an organized religion to spread the words of Jesus Christ.

The more JWs who own tablets/smartphones the better. Tablets/smartphones are usually owned and used by one person. If no one else is looking at where one goes on the internet, more JWs will feel less fearful about visiting websites like JWN - may be even during meetings.
The advantages for the WTBTS to encourage using tablets/smartphones are it may reduce printing costs in developed countries, it would allow the WTBTS to use streamling video for the GB to "Properly Feed" (indoctrinate) JWs more often, and if it discontinues its printing operations totally then the WTBTS can revise what it writes instantaneously and there is less likelyhood that JWs will notice. I wonder if the Warwich complex as a video studio to feed the flock.

A one sentence reply that could jolt a JW
by HBH inmy mind was wandering last night, and i though of this as a reply to a jw.. "oh, your the people who believe 8 men in brooklyn, ny are directing the world's only true religion.".
the sentence is a fact that they can't deny, but clearly shows delusion.
any other one sentence "stingers"?.

"Who is your mediator with God?"
If they answer "Jesus Christ", ask them if they are annoited, because according to the WTBTS Jesus Christ is the mediator for the annointed and the GB is the mediator for the remaining JWs. I would rather have Jesus Christ as my mediator with God instead of 8 imperfect men in NY.
