Zagor, are you really from Australia? If so, just apply for mature-age enrolment & enrol in a commerce/science/arts degree, which you can change to either direction when you get a feel of what you're most interested for. And the good thing is it's all paid for by HECS! I went back to uni 6 years after school, & I thought I would be at the bottom rung, especially as I got a pretty average HSC score. But I am in the top 5% of my faculty, have won scholarships, & am hoping to start my PhD next year! Anything is possible in this new life we are making for ourselves!

by zagor ini think it would be great final chapter in my healing process, and would love to catch up with my life anyway (most of guys of my generation have finished it long ago and have kids).
i'm interested in science and engineering, but i'm afraid my mind my have become too dull over many years of brain washing.
social sciences sound great too but im not sure if i like them enough to pursue such degree to the end.

Just finished uni after 4 1/2 years!!!
by JW83 ini started uni doing a ba the year after i left the dubs.
then i got pregnant & married, & still continued ... i have just finished my honours year in history - i did a thesis on why the dubs were banned in australia during ww2.
talk about full circle!

I am stressed, exhausted, worried about my results, but I am finally also feeling excited that I have finished! I'm hoping to start a PhD next year doing a history of dubs in Australia (which hasn't yet been done) but that depends on the marks, of course. For the rest of the year I am going to be working part-time (yay, money!) and spending a lot more time with my daughter & hubby! Yay!

Pass the Jesus I need a hit!
by free2beme ini hate to say this, as there may be some here that fit this description, but people deep into jesus with all that saved talk and accepting jesus talk, look the same as the person trying to get me to take a hit on the bong.
these people seem stoned hard core and in la-la land of some fantasy and wonder why others don't want to ride the crazy train with them.
personally, i find these people to be almost alien to me, in that they seem so into their religion of "save" and "accept" this, that there is no reasoning or even discussing a different subject with them.

I don't agree with this, greendawn. Religion is a fantasy superstructure - even the most benign religions involve a belief system which evolved in someone's imagination. Usually a male's. ie, religion as opposed to spirituality.

Yeah, I think the dubs have got group control down to a fine art. I do know that there are some who genuinely want to share the message & think it's the truth. I wasn't really one of them - I believed it but I was embarrassed about being so different & it was pretty obvious no one wanted to listen!
