Lesbian Teen / JW Parents NY Times
by DannyHaszard in?my parents had this big argument over whose fault it was, why i chose to be this way.
?new york times - sep 19 6:15 pmzy-tasia gaines.
was born (1990) and raised in brownsville, brooklyn, and my mom raised me to be open to everything: to all types of sexualities.

Angelina Jolie? Red ice cream? These are teenagers in HIGH SCHOOL? I thought it was grade school they played games like that.Guess I'm waaay out of the loop.
I can't even imagine the heavy burden this girl carries from her family's condemnation, and the condemnation of her partner's family.Or the confusion-her mom raises her to be open to all types of sexualities except one-her own sexual orientation.
Glad she's found her voice.
LOL! The last highlighted paragraph is certainly a damning testament to the JW claim that they don't earn salvation.

Hanging out with JWs after you no longer believe
by B_Deserter init's starting to become harder and harder to hang out with witnesses.
all their talk about how evil the world is, etc.
i was at a gathering last night, and this older couple was their talking about how their granddaughter came back because she got a taste of how the world was, her so-called friends were freeloading off her and stealing her stuff.

Oompa,
The reason why I DA'd is because I had a rabid elder after me who was trying to gather evidence to disfellowship me (he believed some lying rumors my in-laws had spread about me). I was NOT going out on their terms, so I beat him to the punch and DA'd myself. I gave them NO REASON why I was leaving, which totally infuriated him, LOLOL!!!! I didn't have a lot to lose, though. My kids were ready to leave, and weren't baptised (they were never allowed to get baptised when they asked, thankfully). My mother and step dad were also not allowed to get baptised (even after studying for YEARS). Basically, we were all targets of a control freak elder, which in the end worked to MY advantage.
If it wouldn't have been for that fact, I probably would've just faded.Well, maybe not-I DO like celebrating holidays, lol

LOL! I started going to a church after I left the JWs that ended up being the door to door type. I told them NO WAY was I doing that anymore. Then I found out they weren't the branch of Baptists they claimed to be on their web site-they were affiliated with the Southern Baptist convention and espoused the new SB standing on women (can anyone say "theocratic warfare here").I also found out that even though the pastor was a hardliner on women's subjection, he didn't "know how he felt" about porn.Hmm-a guy who earnestly believes women should be in subjection, but likes porn-anyone else having S&M visions here, lol. Needless to say, I was out of there. Now I get shunned by them, too
One good thing about being exJW-the whole hellfire and brimstone thing has NO effect on me

A couple of JWs came to my door last Saturday. I knew one of them from my old congregation. I am DA'd, and thanks to a nosy JW lady who happens to work at our bank, the elders have our new address (they TOLD me that's who they got it from). I recieved a visit from the elders when we first moved back here. When they got no results, they sent a woman who used to be a good friend of mine out to try and persuade me to come back. After those two visits, I never heard from them again ( I was hoping I was on the BIG SCARLET A-for-Apostate DO NOT CALL LIST, lol).Well, either the one guy I know is now an elder, or I didn't make the list for some reason, because there they were.
I was heading out the door on the way to the gym, looking forward to my day off. I just didn't feel like dealing with them. I put on my sunglasses and my best busy householder look and headed out the door as they were walking up. The guy I knew started in on his canned presentation. I told him I was busy. He handed me a tract and said they would come back. I took it and headed to my car, thinking what the hell-is this guy playing games with me or something? Is he still RAF, and not aware that this is the house of a JEZEBEL (and darn it-my name must not have made it on the back of the territory card-or do they not do that anymore?), or is he a reluctant elder, lol?
I got in the car and turned on my XM. Lo and behold, the first words out of the speakers were from an Evolocity song- "God, save me from your people" ROFLMAO (btw-does anyone happen to know the name of that song?)!!!The next one was a nasty little ditty by Puscifer, about a woman who would cause a man to sell his soul
Well, they haven't been back this week, so maybe he got filled in or something.

What is the explanation of this...???

This kind of thing happens to me a lot. I go back and forth between the theories that it's coincidence, and that we humans have another sense to ensure survival that science hasn't yet discovered. I'm leaning more toward a sixth sense, as when it happens to me, it is a very strong feeling that I MUST do something. Usually, if I ignore that feeling, things turn out badly.I don't know what it is, but I tend not to ignore it anymore. This is one case where I'm not waiting around for science to prove the existence of whatever it is

LOL! Scully, the same thing happened to me. I had an ice skating party for the kids in the congregation and decorated with snowflakes, snowmen, mittens, and sled cut outs. One of the mothers actually complained that I had holiday decorations up.
As far as the pagan, non-pagan debate, it all depends on one's paradigm. Christians feel they are celebrating Christmas. Pagans feel that Christians borrowed pagan practices to worship their own god. Pagans DID place significance on the December 25th date before Christians. But then again, someone else pointed out that not all Christians celebrate Christmas on the 25th.It all seems pretty syncretic to me.But I could see where a Christian who takes seriously the Bible admonition not to be yoked with other religious practices would have the need to create a paradigm in which there is some kind of line of division between their beliefs and those of others. To each their own, I say

They have even taken away the tooth fairy
by jambon1 ini have just ben told by my jw wife that my daughter will not be able to get a penny for her very 1st wobbly tooth, presumably because the belief in fairys may be damaging to her.
on the other hand, it is ok for 100 adults to discuss in front of my wee 5 year old, matters relating to oral sex in a sunday morning wt study.
absolute bastards.

LOL! We had the tooth fairy at our house anyway. I told the children that the toothfairy was a story, but they wanted to act it out anyway. They knew full well it was me who put the money under their pillows and took their teeth, but it didn't seem to dim their excitement all that much.
