  your story touched me too. i'm glad your here. i also came in through the D2D work . i loved the teaching of there being no eternal torture.
  i have met many sisters who suffered from depression as well. No wonder !!! i may have missed it in the thread on what made u leave ?
  i wonder how many people leave because they JUST CAN"T TAKE IT ANYMORE . it breaks my heart to think they may be filled with guilt thinking they left Jah.
  Have u tried calling your Mom? i recall she disowned you. my family disowned me for about a year , maybe more when i became a JW. i called them while still a witness and we had a very tense relationship for another 2 years. now its the best its ever been.
  i'm glad your happy now. it sounds like you've been through alot.

  to any former elders Amazing

  it does seem to me like elders are masters of double talk.

  for example, last night during my talk with the elders i said i did not believe the organization is the mouthpiece of god.

  that i believed the bible was god's word.

  it does seem to me like elders are masters of double talk. for example, last night during my talk with the elders i said i did not believe the organization is the mouthpiece of God. that i believed the bible was God's word. one elder said that the org doesn't believe that. i'm confused. the faithful and discreet slave distributes spiritual food at the proper time . it provides that info in books and the watchtower. how could they say that?? it was a passing comment and things were heated and we went back to the topic of shunning.
  are u taught as an elder to avoid directly answering certain questions????
  do u remember other elders being misleading to questions asked?

  i have been missing in action for 6.5 years.

  if they come to your place of employment, i would tell them that you do not find it appropriate to discuss such private matters at work. that such a personal conversation should be done in a more private setting. Ask them for their phone number and tell them you will call them at a time where it will be more convient for you. Don't call me, I'll call you..... jurs

  here's some thing right from the official jw site under fequently asked questions.. do you shun former members?.

  those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned.

  in compliance with the scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions.

  Hi D,
  i JUST went over this with 2 elders last night. i asked I asked Jay Moore (elder) if he was going to shun me. he said YES. we also went over1 cor5:11-13 as well as the scripture as well as 1 cor. 6:9 on who will not inherit the kingdom of God. i am NOT guilty of any of those things but i WILL be shunned . my situation was crystal clear to him. i don't care what the official web site says that aint how it is !! jurs

  i notice a tendency to use very rough words describing each other and their posts.

  some may think that if we can make other people thing unworthy we are the ones on the top.

  Ditto to what Larc said.... i'm not saying its right or that i will talk that way but it doesn't offend me a bit. its refreshing to not be censored !!! i have more respect for the angry, bitter, foul mouthed poster than i do for the cookie cutter, brainwashed JW who sounds like a tape recorder.

  hi kent,
  i think talking to someone who just studies or knows the JW's is incredibly difficult. i'd rather go head to head with the whole body of elders. reason being is they usually don't know from any experience personal or otherwise how unloving the org really is, yet EVERY witness at one point has seen it. usually a witness has at one point has seen hypocrisy. usually a witness at one point has seen the clicks and has been in or heard about "cold congregations". most JW's at one point see how certain brothers or sisters are never invited over. all the outsider see is what they are shown. all of us here have been guilty at one time of presenting ONLY the best face of the org to that person. we tell them hoe HAPPY we are. we bend over backwards helping them see how kind we are. we display incredible humility to them. its only after they join that the help stops, the invitations no longer exist and the mask slips off a bit. i have no idea how to help someone see through that.... i recently tried and failed. i think they have to learn the hard way.....jurs

  hi Teejay,
  thats the one !!! i read it over and over to where i had it almost memorized. i took a few brief notes on notebook paper so they wouldn't know it came from apostate literature. i followed the outline and scriptures. i'm grateful to whomever did the research on that subject and made it available. when i read the shunning info. it grabbed at my heart and i knew they couldn't use scripture to fight it. jurs

  many of us exiting the wts were limited and restricted regarding our free time/vacation activities.most activities didn't meet with wts approval for various 'reasons'.
