Ground Zero PHOTOS! (Goodbye Red X's???)
by Mister Biggs inthese were taken on february 11, 2002 (five months after the tragedy).. this day, they pulled the bodies of 5 victims from the rubble.. i wish the photos were larger but the larger photos eventually turn into red x's.. reflect and enjoy!.
the building's that you see did not suffer as much damage as the other building's (shown above) that were to the left of the wtc.
a closer shot of the smaller buildings that are shown in one of the photos above.... .

Why do the 'friends' believe Elders over Experts
by FriendlyFellaAL inthis is something i've been wondering about lately due to personal experiences.
my mother and stepfather (she's a jw, he is not) have been having some marital problems of late and instead of seeking out the advice of a marriage counselor or some similar specialist in the field, they have chosen to seek help through one of the elders in her congregation.
i'm completely surprised by this, yet i know i shouldn't be.

Don't you mean a cardiologist, not a window washer? A cardiologist and a podiatrist are both a type of doctor. What does an elder have in common with a professional counsellor?
Q: From a JW perspective, what would make an elder be considered good at this type of advice?
A: He knows how to use the bound volume index. Yeah real helpful. -

Why is there pain-suffering..Apologists view
by gumby inhere is an apologist view of why there is suffering.. answer c. just didn't cut it for me.. basically he is saying "everything god did turned out to sin"; eg.
especially when that potential goes bad in every case"?.

It does not say that God brought futile existence upon humanity. It instead says that God allowed humanity to suffer a futile existence.
Is this like saying "I didn't light my children on fire officer. Instead I *allowed* them to play with matches. I didn't force the matches on them sir."

JW's are an unknown fringe group
by joelbear ini went to a dinner party tonight that had about 100 people, all non jws.
laughter and merriment and a good time was had by all.. these were good honest hard working people who have no clue as to what jws believe or that they are going to be judged according to whether they believe like witnesses do.. it impressed on my mind just how unknown witnesses are and how little people pay any attention to their message.. witnesses think they are the center of the universe.
non-witnesses don't even think about them at all.. joel

Will WTBTS cut back donations?
by VioletAnai inif there are people leaving in the multitudes...do the wtbts still need so many funds..... i mean printing would go down...kingdom hall costs etc....do they need as much money?

so do you think they will eva make an announcement asking that donations be kept to a minimum....seeing as they have said in the past that jehovah provides them with enough to keep the ministry going and nothing more so it cannot be used and abused in other ways...... or.....

My first gut feeling was that VA was trying to disprove something in reverse. As in, "If there really WAS a mass exodus then the WTBS wouldn't need so much money. since the WTBS has not said stop sending money, they must need money and therefore there is no mass exodus. PHEW!!!"
Incidentally who here has ever said there is a mass exodus? I think most here would simply agree that more people than ever (still likely a small number) are deciding to leave the WTBS because of the internet.

i am a new poster who is putting off their own personal story of finding this site for a while..... i find alot of people here utterly fascinating, and would like to know..... exactly what is everyones professional field of work?.
i would like to be a full time poster on this forum, but alas, the $$$$ are quite light in that field of work.. apologies if this has been asked before.. just curious.
