  Ladies - Do you have trouble with prayer?

  as a consequence of your time as a jw 'sister' do you find it difficult to pray?

  after believing that men could pray willy nilly without issue but women couldn't i still have issues feeling worthy enough to talk to god in prayer.

  Thanks for saying what I, as a male, could not say with such validity. Wow, The greatest atrocity I can imagine that men have committed against women in general is to cut them off from an attempt to connecting to the higher reality by convincing them that this reality is dominated by men. As a man, an elder even, I came to realize that women who had been abused by a man had great difficulty relating to a god represented as a "father", or just a man. While, at the time, I thought the 'father' image from Jesus was better than the "JEHOVAH OF ARMIES" image of the Hebrew scriptures it was still inadequate for a the needs of women. What is needed, but difficult, is to remove all anthropomorphic (please look it up if you don't know) notions of God. God is NOT a man, not a woman, not a human, not a person - as we know persons. Many if not most have a natural inclination to connect to something we sense is there but we need to quiet relating this "something" to humans, especially to A MAN. I sympathize with those who are hurt by association of the 'essence of all things' with human males. It is time to grow beyond that limitation and allow ourselves to experience the connection, often through prayer, to a higher level of spirituality where divisions of male/female do not exists.   questions, questions, and more questions.. did jesus (if he existed) have in mind starting a world religion such as has been created around him in his name?

  if so, why did he not write the foundations for it, laying out it's laws and structure?

  why did he only rebel and lead a rebellion against the old testement priesthood?

  That's it. It doesn't matter. It doesn't even matter if historians are correct in concluding Jesus never existed.

  Maybe yes, maybe no. Maybe the nature of Jesus, supposedly the only godman, logos, only son etc was misunderstood.

  Unfortunately, he was NOT the "only godman, logos, only son". Those pre-existing myths applied to Jesus also call into question legitimacy of the orthodox view.

  Maybe we all have what he had, only hidden. That makes us equal to him.

  I think that was what he was trying to tell us. He insisted he was a "son of man", yet a "son of God" and we were all 'children of God'. He did not claim what John and Paul attributed to him, exclusive divinity. In fact, if we can read only the gospels (liberally, as accounts of men and without the clouding of dogma from the christian institutional thinking) you see a mystic performing allusions and spreading the perennial philosophy about a reality beyond this material world. Like Buddha, his followers lost the original meaning and established a religion to preserve their movement. What do you think? Jst2laws

  If one is expecting Jesus to start a religion, he did a terrible job. If you expect his teachings to only lead us to a way of connecting to the Essence of all things (he called "father"), he did all he could do considering his audience. It doesn't matter that he wrote nothing. If he had written anything his writings would have been venerated, interpreted and analyzed more than the writings of later Christian writers such as Paul. Every inspired spiritual leader, if his insight is recognized, is turned into a god and his teachings are embellished by generations of followers of followers. This sad development does not change the fact that Jesus, whether the man or the teaching (at least the teaching existed) was a great message. Jesus spoke of a new concept; only the two laws of love, forgiveness and becoming "one with God". This is the "Way" or the "Tao" of that the man Jesus taught. It's bad enough that this "way" became a religious institution at the hands of his less inspired followers. It would have been worse if he had laid out rules and dogma AS IF he INTENDED to start a religion. Jst2laws

  i did not realize that in my post above about brothers reuniting after 26 years that i failed to mention that it is because of this site that it all happened.. i am scott's wife and i met darrin's common law wife on this board.

  neither of us even knew each other existed.

  i was talking about dan f and she was here trying to learn more about jw's because of what her man went through as a child.

  I had admired your comments here and consider you one of the brighter posters. But why is a man two yours old than myself still so concerned about this subject?

  Btw, women after menopause sometimes become more sexually active than before. That may be for another discussion.

  hello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.

  i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.

  i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.
