Lett briefly addresses the child abuse issues in new JW.org video
by Richard_I ini just read about this on the ex-jw subreddit.
link to the video (10m06s).. skip to 7:35 where he says: "another way we can contribute to the oneness - rejecting false stories that are designed to separate us from jehovah's organization.
as an example, think about the apostate-driven lies and 'dishonesties' that jehovah's organization is permissive toward pedophiles.

It's great that they are talking about it. I would think that the average JW that is actually watching their broadcast is the kind that would avoid anything negative in the first place. Now that a GB member brings the subject up, it has been introduced into the indoctrinated mind that probably knew nothing about the problem in the first place. -

Freudian slip in this weeks WT study!
by stuckinarut2 inoh....ok....hahaha...did anyone else pick up on this classic stuff up in the wt for the weekend of 21/22 feb?.
after speaking about the destruction of sodom and gomorrah, paragraph 6 says:.
"only lot and his daughters, who stuck close to him, survived".

One must wonder how, if he was that drunk, could even perform.
The sister's cycles must have been in synch too.
It's in the Bible, it must be true.

Psychology Today - interesting articles about Cult Leaders and Predators in clergy or organization positions
by wannabefree ini stumbled upon some articles in psychology today written by joe navarro, an ex-fbi counterintelligence agent.. this one talks about predators as priests or clergy as well as in other organizations and why they are attracted to it .... https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/spycatcher/201404/why-predators-are-attracted-careers-in-the-clergy.
this article talks about identifying dangerous cult leaders ... how many characteristics do you see in some of the gb leaders past and present?.

Oubliette, thanks for posting the concluding comments. I thought that was quite telling too.
How many points out of 50 does it take to qualify as cult control? JW certainly can be identified to some degree with most of those characteristics.
I think the problem is, as long as you have freedom of religion, which I guess is a good thing, JW's will for the most part be left alone to do what they wish. JW's aren't going to cause a revolution. They aren't going to take sides in politics. They will for the most part be honest and peaceable tax paying citizens. They will continue to destroy lives with depression and under achieving ... and unlike Rutherford, they try to keep a fairly low profile.
Most people know JW's as those neighbors who's religion is a little odd but are good neighbors. Nobody cares about a cult like this other than a mother who's child gets taken in and won't come home for Christmas anymore.

You can perhaps find a more diplomatic way of using breakfast of champions' solid easy arguments, but that is really the way to go if you want to remain in the shadows.
The C.O. is trying to engage you in dialogue, do not engage.

Wouldn't it be great to have somebody like this observe one of AMIII's talks and then report what's going on with his body language? -

Your body of elders - were they liberal, conservative or moderate?
by minimus inin my first kingdom hall, the elders were ultra conservative.
our presiding overseer used to be a zone overseer.
the second hall i was in was moderate.
-

In the two bodies I sat with, most were liberal to moderate ... however, there was at least one conservative that would bring out the rule book when he felt the need. One conservative and a rule book trumps a majority or moderates, if not, Mother's representative will set it straight on the next visit. -

A sensible fix for the Jehovah's Witness "two witness rule" when dealing with child sex abuse
by Watchtower-Free injehovah's witnesses could retain their two witness rule for internal judicial.
congregation matters .
but in the case of a child abuse allegation they should .

What they do is what the law of the land requires. The lawsuits brought against the Organization are from decades ago for the most part. Because laws vary from state to state, they are instructed to call Watchtower legal ... even if there is only an accusation by a single individual. Elders are then instructed to comply with the law for their particular area, no more and no less. This clearly isn't for the protection of the innocent, although it may provide more protection than years gone by, it is a protection from future litigation for the corporation. -

Another new one ... these are such great tools.
My wife is uncomfortable with them, she has caught on to my gig.
I played this for my daughters today and they liked it.
