born in 1930 near chartres, charpentier studied at the biblical institute in rome and the ecole biblique et archeologique of jerusalem.
until his death in 1981, he was responsible to the french catholic episcopate for developing publications aimed at encouraging bible study.. the apocalypses.

Daniel was confused.
by transhuman68 ini did some research after reading this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/246165/1/using-microsoft-excel-to-disprove-watchtower-theology-authority.
and realized there have been some flip-flops in the watchtower's interpretation of daniel's prophecy.
here is the interpretation from 'pay attention to daniel's prophecy' (1999) pg.301:.

What if the Watchtower Society DID cease to exist?
by transhuman68 inthis is a scenario im sure we have all thought about, and we keep looking for any signs that this may occur.
it would seem like the ultimate victory, and that our only emotion would be joy and relief.. but what if they printed an apology... and it included this:.
we are sorry if some of you were misled, but we had a corporation to run and finance.

What does the Watchtower Society really teach?
by transhuman68 inthe title of this thread is of course, a parody of the wts book: what does the bible really teach?
not that the witnesses really know.... and this is the problem..... .
im just amazed at the people coming to this forum from the witnesses who have no idea what is fact and what is fiction in the bible, so we are having discussions about talking snakes and noahs ark; all the weird and wonderful stories written down by the jewish scribes all those millennia ago.

The seven trumpet blasts of Revelation & the Millions campaign.
by transhuman68 inone of the jehovahs witness doctrines that many of us have had trouble believing is that the seven angels trumpet blasts described in revelation applied to events that occurred in the 1920s at seven assemblies held around the world at the time when judge rutherford was the president of the watchtower society.. the revelation climax book (1988) contains this summary on page 173:.
highlights of jehovah's trumpetlike judgment proclamations.
1922 cedar point, ohio: a challenge to christendom's leaders in religion, politics, and big business to justify their failure to bring peace, prosperity, and happiness.

Smackdown! Jesus vs. Paul.
by transhuman68 inlol.
i was reading the pagan christ by tom harpur (allen & unwin 2004) and a found a reference to this website: http://www.jesuspuzzle.humanists.net/jhcjp.htm.
an interesting article about the historical jesus and whether he even existed at all, and if paul knew of him, or was referring to a mythical-type of christ.. personally, i'm starting to think jesus never existed....

Pompeii
by transhuman68 ineveryone knows the story of pompeii: the city on the west coast of italy that was destroyed by the eruption of mount vesuvius in the 1st century c.e.. interestingly, this was around the same time that the gospels were being written, and the eyewitness accounts of the eruption make an interesting comparison:.
"many lifted up their hands to their gods," the younger pliny wrote to his friend tacitus at the end of the first century, "but a great number believed there were no gods, and that this night was to be the world's last, eternal one" (letters 5.16; 5.20).
it was the night of august 24, 79 c.e., and since noon of that day vesuvius had hurled gas, ash, and pumice 12 miles into the air above the cities of pompeii and herculaneum.
