Getting into Arguments with JW's...

i'm trying to fade away, but i sometimes find myself in discussions or arguments with jw family/friends/white haired virgin elders.

now, i usually have them beat on things but i'm not very experienced, so i was thinking if you guys could help me put together a list of completely unanswerable questions to pose to my jw friends/family/elders so they can stop bugging me.

if i keep asking them questions they simply cannot answer, then they might leave them alone.

Ryan- The truth won't stand up to adversity? I am just an outsider looking in but it seems like you are afraid of people who have questioned the fact that the WTS is actually the word of God.

Ryan- I'm sorry this is a little bit confusing. I was under the impression that Jehovah's Witnesses claimed that the information in the Watchtower magazines was from Jehovah. Sorry about that.

Ryan- Mods, please don't remove my posts as I am only curious and not looking to disrespect or "stumble" anyone as was mentioned above. I am the one who didn't slam the door on the witnesses when they came. I have accepted the magazines. I am just curious on this subject. Why is looking at something from all angles a bad thing to do? If I was going to buy a car, why would I listen to only the car dealer? Gimme the CAR-FAX.

Why would it be a bad thing to talk to someone who didn't like that particular make or model? Who's to say I wouldn't love it anyway?

Kellie- Only in the sense that we use God's word profusely within them. It's those SCRIPTURES that are from Jehovah.

Would You "Technically" Remain A Jehovah's Witness If There Were No Sanctions Involved?

many of us have drifted.

we know it isn't the truth but we might not have officially resigned as jws.

many catholics are nominal catholics and they are not shunned or avoided because of their not going to church or confession.. would you remain a jw if the organization didn't punish you for your inactivity?.

I don't know what CATHOLIC CHURCH that you go to but...

We are taught that being a Christian isn't something that is done in church or by passing out pamphlets

We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary, died for our sins, and showed us how to live by example.

We go to mass primarily for the Eucharist (blood & wine).

The Vatican may have a certain stance on a certain subject but we are free to make choices in life answering only to GOD.

The Deacon of my Church told me a while back, "Go preach to everyone around you and if you absolutely have to, you can use words".

In my opinion you can't confirm or deny someone is a practicing Catholic by his attendance in church or by how many times he has been to confession (which is called reconciliation, and recommended at least once a year). The only way you can identify a non practicing Catholic is by looking at his heart through his deeds.

i used to think of leaving early.

at the end i started making excuses to leave (supposedly work related) so that i could just get out of there.

i wanted a drink!.

Do you think this could have contributed to my short attention span? I can be watching one of my wife's CSI shows with her (my eyes completely glued to the t.v.) and in the last ten minutes she'll ask me, "do you think the mom was involved?" and I have absolutely no idea what the hell she's talking about.

Lucky for me there was a mentally retarted teenager and he was very comical. He would constantly be turning around in his seat and making funny faces at the people behind him. It was hillarious. He would go to the back and get a drink from the fountain at least once a meeting and everyone just waited to hear him because he would slurp so loud the speaker could hear him. After each long slurp came a loud "aaaaaahhhhhh". He would keep going if sombody didnt return him to his seat. This kid was great. Even the elders couldnt help but laugh out loud. I wish I could give him a big hug and just say "thanks Craig".
