  donating plasma.. i am very proud to be a provider of life saving plasma products....and a proud grandma of a child who thankfully was gifted a triple transplant/blood transfusion.

  Good for you little witch. When I left the WTS the first thing I did was donate blood. I did that every 8 weeks faithfully. THEN the bottom fell out of my iron I mean it was bouncing on bottom. My doctor made me quit giving till I could build it back up. Come to find out anmeia (spelling?) runs in my family so I might be able to give platelets a couple of times a year...

  I was scared for 28 years straight...then realized I was scared of a fantasy...The WTS has been preaching "THE END" for over 130 years now at what point do you stop being scared...

  How Much Power Does an Elder Have?

  what is the extent of their powers and authority?

  can they speak to someone who's been dfed?

  it got me wondering if this is the prevalent thinking in here.

  for a very long time i believed that jw's and all fundamentalist christian folk are a cut above the norm.

  First official shunning was AWESOME

  we went to target this weekend to look at halloween costumes for the kiddos (and maybe me - i'm still a kid at heart).

  my daughter and i were walking down a main aisle when an ex-friend - the very one who testified that i refused to discuss my doubts - came out of a side aisle and almost turned our direction.

  we made eye contact and i gave him a nod as we continued to walk toward him.... but he stopped like he'd run into a brick wall, then turned and started walking with his back to us so that we didn't cross paths.. my daughter pipes up and says, "hey, daddy, isn't that [edit]??

  I remember the first time I got shunned in public it was in a grocery store simular to your experience. Turned a corner and saw an old "friend" of 25 years. Not thinking I smiled and said "hi" she turned up her nose and huffed off. Then I remember the first time I shunned a JW in public. Was walking into a hardware store heard my name called out turned to see an elder I knew smiling waving and coming towards me. I looked at him and turned and walked into the store...

  it was a long time coming.

  i stopped going to meetings june 09. the reason i left it so long is because my husband is still in and for this reason i see witnesses from time to time.

  Is it mandatory to either be DF or to DA?

  The reason I asked that we haven't attended a meeting for almost two years now. We weren't DF and we haven't written a letter of DA. We just literally faded. Do they not just cross you off their records or whatever for non-attendance?

  I would think they would have to meet with you before they can take any action. If you moved to another town or state there is not much they can do to DF or consider you DA'd...
