Broken Promises--- I appreciate your point about being an outsider in the congregation. JW teens can be very cliquey, as can the adults! I feel so badly for the people who are in the Org. who do not feel like they fit in at the Kingdom Hall or out in the broader world. What a lonely life. I felt this way when I was in. That was a very dark time for me, and I began to contemplate suicide. By nature I am a very positive thinking person, an optimist. When I began thinking dark thoughts of death and relief through suicide, I knew it was time to get the hell out of there. I hope that teens and adults who feel rejected and out of place in the Org. will contemplate the things in this article and come to the conclusion that a change in their lives is needed.

Welcome! Very happy to have you here. Your letter was very though-provoking and well written. And your experience hits home with me and pulls at the heart. You will find on this site that you are not alone by far. So many of us can relate and empathize. I am so sorry that you have had to go through this. The hypocrisy that is seen in the Org. is so disturbing and it tends to enrage me as well. Welcome again and I am looking forward to hearing more from you.

Hi - I'm new here!

for the past few years i have been going to the meetings and doing fieldservice out of guilt.. my husband (twisty) told me regularly i only do it out of guilt but i denied it and said it i want to do these things because i love jehovah and it is the right thing to do, but how can it be the right thing if you don't feel welcome and it feels like everyone is judging you the moment you walk into the kingdom hall.. it has taken a few years and a lot of tears to open my eyes.. over the past few years twisty spoke to me about the various things he didn't agree with but it just went over my head.
a few months ago we were lying in bed and he brought up his concerns again, and i'm not sure what was different this time but i understood and agreed with the points he was making.

It is a very sticky situation when your family is still in. I am in the same situation. My family doesn't talk to me very much, and I have tried to express my doubts to them, but they don't seem to be too receptive at this point. I have stopped trying to talk to them about it for now as I do not want to lose contact completely.
The advice to take it slow and not mention doubts to family yet seems a very good idea to me. It is hard enough losing faith in everything that you have been exposed to since birth, especially with all the sacrifices that one makes for the WTS, without losing your family bond as well.
So glad to have you here! Hang in there! Things will look up from here on out. There will be hardships and bumps in the road along the way, but it is definitely a worthwhile journey to take.

I think Trthskr's title to his or her post says a ton. "Any Actual Witnesses Here?". I think somebody is just looking to get some active dubs to tattle on. Trthskr better tattle on his or her self as well when he/she goes running to the elders. Unless of course the elders were behind the whole thing. Trthskr could be an elder himself I suppose. Either way it is disgusting. TROLL!
By the way Trthskr, this is not a pro-JW website. Which is probably why you are not seeing glowing reviews of the religion/cult.

LAST CALL: Give a piece of advice to JW's going into the New Year

it is okay to treat each day as if it were your last if it makes you more grateful, humble and kind.. but, if it becomes your excuse for neglecting your life, your sense of charity, your education and your humanity---then, shut the hell up about end times and make a new beginning.. start with here and now....today....improving this world any way you can.
stop thinking of everybody else as some kind of "enemy" that deserves to die if they don't read your magazine.. the sooner you comprehend that your truth is just another opinion the better off you'll be.. oh, and try loving people who don't think the same way you do.. start with those brothers and sisters you've been turning your back on.

Find the things that fulfill YOU and make you happy, not what you are TOLD to do to make yourself happy. If endless meetings and field service doesn't make you happy, don't feel miserable about it. This does not make you a wicked person!! Find your own identity, the kind of music that you like, the kind of hobbies that you like, the career that you like, the kind of mate that you enjoy. Try to find who you are seperate from what the WTS tells you to be.

jwfacts--- I think about it every day, but the pain has dulled a bit. I am trying to concentrate on making myself a happier life on the outside. This is a great thread. It hurts to read the stories, but there is a sense of empathy and understanding that is therapeutic.

What do families of the DF'd tell wordly relatives and friends?

my parents and sisters, as well as my dad's sister and family were there.

Very sad and frustrating! It definitely doesn't help the image of the organization. I am pretty much shunned by all witnesses. My in-laws think this is totally nuts and are very happy that I am no longer a practicing JW. I miss my family and it still haunts me daily that our relationship (or lack there-of) is so strained but I have made my choice and they theirs. It hurts each and every one of us, and the teachings of the WTS are to blame. I hope one day that my family will see this, but I don't hold my breath because dying of suffocation would not be my chosen way to go.
I am so sorry for all of the families that have to go through this.

Aside from WTs NY Dumpsite, what about KH remodels???
by Alfred inthe illegal dump site in upstate ny has received quite a lot of attention lately (as well it should)... .
however, having been involved in several kh remodels, i think the wts little regard for the environment extends way beyond this dumpsite.
as some of you probably know, the workday at a kh remodel usually starts with a prayer, breakfast and a 5 minute safety talk... the safety talk was a joke (e.g.
