Cult Classic--- I just brought up a post from about 3 months ago started by JamieBowers. It is about an Apostafest at Cedar Point, Ohio. It is coming up this summer. I want to go sooooo bad! I am already checking my school schedule for summer to see if I can make it. I think as long as it is on the weekend, I can do it. I am going to start saving the money NOW!!!!!!

"There are a few elders monitoring this board."
HA HA HA HA! I have asked this same question! Hypocrites! Apparently they think that the Holy Spirit will protect them. The mere rank and file do not have the super immune powers that the elders do!!!!!!
In answer to you Cult Classic----- I am cautious because I am a chicken. I want to tell everyone my real name and where I live SOOOOO bad! But as of now, I am trying to fade (family is in the ORG)
I am very curious though about all of the other posters. I always wonder if any of them live close to me, and if they would want to get together for a drink! I am thinking that soon, I will not be afraid anymore, and I will just spill it and let the chips fall where they may!

OKKKAAAAYY Now I get it! Another JW Belief Screwing W/My Life "Date To Marry"

Confuzzled---- I am so sorry for the situation that you are finding yourself in. It will be a rough road, but your child is an amazing gift that will bring you so much happiness.
Your relationship however, could be a different story. He is acting like a selfish JERK, even for a so called "worldly" person. If he is talking about his next relationship, he is not acceptable marriage material. In my opinion, he is using the excuse of his "religious beliefs" as a feeble crutch to support his selfish desires.
I know that you feel deeply for him, but if it is getting harder to tell who he is anymore, and he continues with this religion, it will most likely continue to get worse. Even if that were not the case, what he said about his "next relationship" is enough to tell you that you, and your child, deserve better.
I strongly agree with OnTheWayOut. You don't need this kind of stress right now. You will be able to fall in love again, with someone wonderful. Demand better for yourself and your child! DO NOT SETTLE for a person who is not putting you and your baby FIRST!
I don't mean to rudely tell you what to do, but I do feel passionately about this subject. JW men often treat their wives as if they are sub-human. I don't want that for anyone. I also grew up with JW parents, and my dad was one of the worst husbands and fathers I have ever seen. And he is MILD in comparison to some of the other fathers of some of my friends and acquaintances.
I hope that you will be able to sort this out. I know how it feels to love someone who does not care for you the way he should. It lowers your self esteem, you start thinking that you cannot get anyone else. This is NOT TRUE! There are many GOOD men out there. Hold yourself to a higher standard, and you will be likely to find someone who holds themself to a higher standard.

I suppose this is a stupid question about elders
by dgp ini believe one of the harder pills for an unbeliever to swallow would be the idea of being in submission to the body of elders.
we're just not used to the concept of a clergyman having authority over us in matters that are not spiritual and, even then, i know for a fact that many a catholic will not do was the priest wants without any fear of being excommunicated.
i suppose this is something you just have to accept if you're a jw.

I do think that the WTS knows what the elders are doing to people. I think it is sick. Especially when they use the cliche saying "We are directed by God's Holy Spirit." I think that some are sincere, and really want to do what's right, but the vast majority of them that I have known are power hungry perverts. SO frustrating to be in subjection to those hypocrites rather than God!

That is kindof a hard question for me to answer, I think that being in the ORG set me back EONS in my emotional maturity. I still do not know who I am. My entire identity was wrapped up in the neat little package of a JW. I now have a TON of emotional baggage to overcome, but at the same time, trials and tribulations do give us character and can make us stronger. Hopefully, it will do that for me. I am so new to fading , that I think much more time will have to pass before I can give a more definitive answer to this question. But, Kudos to you John Doe, very thought provoking.

Hmmmm, I think that the name Stigmund has a lot of character. Or not, but you could call him Stiggy for short, and that is kinda quirky.

who had a child molester in their congregation ?
by looloo ini have done this thread a long time ago , but a few newbies have joined recently and may have had some experiances to share , there was 2 in the congregation i was involved with (i was a "study" ) one was from bethel in america and got deported after his prison sentence and the other was reprooved for abuse then carried on abusing in the congregation , years later he abused my daughter and after i found out i reported him to the police , but he had got off "scot free" for 20 years untill i reported him .
i believe the one from bethel was reported to the police simply because elders kids were affected ..

I am willing to bet that there is at least one in every congregation! It seems that they know that they can get away with it in a religious setting, especially within the JW one.
