These small moment are the most important moments in our lives. Just a little bit of time to commit a completely unselfish act.
Thank you, AK - Jeff

I have a question for you all......
by its_me! inmy sister visited me a few months ago, and she was on a holy roller, 'save my soul' kick.
she told me that i needed to get back to the meetings because armageddon was so near.
i told her that if i serve jehovah, it will not be because i am afraid of dying at armageddon, it will be because i love him and have a personal relationship with him.

" Armageddon is a war between Jesus and his enemies, I am not his enemy..."
This is a great answer.

The commandment was only bogus because bogus rules were applied to it by hypocritical people. Therefore, this was not the intended purpose of the commandment.
People certainly did not hole themselves up in their homes on the Sabbath, nor could they have stopped eating, drinking, caring for young children or the elderly or sick, or their animals on this one day.
I'm sure women still went into labor and so midwives still helped with birthing, physicians still helped with healing when people were hurt, and certainly rabbis and such still did their preaching work.

Are you RANDY?
by St George of England inwhy is it that the characters in the convention drama always have a kid called randy?
he is always the good kid in the illustration and the elders always address him with "hi randy" in cowboy film accent.. he in england randy has sexual connotations and means lustful or promiscuous.
are kids actually called randy in the us?.

'Are you Randy' just makes me think of Austin Powers. The name Randy exists of course. I suppose its not uncommon here in Canada.

The jews misapplied that commandment. They had become so concerned with appearances of the 'law' that they no longer used common sense- or submitted to the greatest law of love - and so they condemned the innocent.
Matthew 12:11 - 12 (NIV) 'He said to them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."
Luke 13:15 - "You hypocrites! Doesn't each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?"
John 7:23-24 - "Now if a child can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing the whole man on the Sabbath? Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment."
Jesus never broke this command, and he did expect us to make a just decision - but we can only achieve understanding of these commands if we apply the greatest law of love, rather than mere rules of men.
Mark 2:27 - The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
Best,
Tammy

Just out of curiosity, what commandment do you think Jesus break?

At a 2 day assembly ...the point that the brother spoke about that drove me mad....."don't hug your husband, wife or child during prayer".
by crazy2try ini attended one day of a two day assembly and did ok until the very last talk.
the brother was from bethal and well jw's pay closer attention to their talks, cause that is when some new info is given,,,right.
well anyways i lost focus and began to daydream, cause it became one of those talks that just talks about wasting time.

Since the JW's and many other religions are so high on the OT, and in finding what constitutes sexual immorality, there is a whole list detailing that very thing in Leviticus, chapter 18. These laws were pretty detailed, including laws against bestiality. If oral sex was forbidden, then I'd say it stands to reason it would have been said so.
It was mostly about who you could have sex with, rather than how you could have sex.

My 10 yr old son ...who is listening ....leans over and says "Mom, how could it bother them if their eyes are closed?
We should pay closer attention to our children. Without any BS fostered inside them yet, they just cut to the chase.

Mormon Version of Hell
by cameo-d in.....teaches that upon death, righteous souls go to paradise, while the souls of the unrepentant go to a spirit prison, where the former are sent from paradise to preach the gospel to the latter, and the living perform work in lds temples providing ordinances that can only be received in the flesh, which the repentant imprisoned ones can accept.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/resurrection.
imagine that you were an apostate and you end up in the spirit prison.
would you rather have to listen to the righteous mormons or the righteous jws (providing you were given a preference)?.

I have different experiences with Mormons. As a child, we lived next door to a Mormon family, and I always thought that they were the homiest and warmest people I knew. I loved the mom; she was so huggable and patient. As an adult, I've been friends with a Mormon family for years, and never once have they attempted to push their beliefs on me, or treat me as a lesser person. In fact, even being among their entire circle, ( a quarter of our townhouse complexes were Mormon) I was warmly welcomed without having faith or religion brought up even once.
Maybe I just got lucky, or maybe this circle truly had love among themselves.
Doesn't mean I believe them or that I want to join. Just thought I should share my perspective, limited though it may be.
