I'm sorry for you and your family. I'm happy you reunited with him in the past decade. It sounds as though you accepted him for who he was, and that in itself, brings peace to both people.

he has been ill for some time, but it was still unexpected.
he was never a jw and i didn't really have a close relationship with him, since he remarried after my parents divorced.
i reunited with him in the mid 90's after over 10 years of not seeing him.. .

hello jwners,.
to tell the truth, i am not a great reader of books but once i get the right one i usually get right into it.. a friend from church has passed me a couple recently.
i have just finished the second and i found it most profound.. .
PSac -It seems to be about the battle at end of days. Armageddon I suppose. Those first few pages read as symbolic, but quite powerful. Very visual. I've never read anything like that before.
did all of the livestock die in the 1st plague, or just some of them?.
6 and the lord did just as he had said.
the next morning all the livestock of the egyptians died, but the israelites didnt lose a single animal.. .
Personally, I think most of the contradictions in the bible are where we have misunderstood the translation or misunderstood the point of the story completely. Sylvia could be right about the appropriation of livestock or we may have mistranslated all livestock for many livestock (or something else entirely.) There are many words that we have not used properly -or we have guessed at based on common understanding of scripture.
On the whole, I believe we are given the correct message. But every line of scripture? I don't thinks so. I think faith, or at least an open mind/heart, is required to be able to appreciate this.

i thought about that question myself and i don't think i really hate anyone.
i guess i could hate bin laden or some nameless evil terrorist but no one comes to mind..
Some people make me angry, and I may dislike them for a while. At least until the heat of the moment passes.
But hate?
No. I don't want to have those feelings inside of me.
Hating is far worse for the person doing the hating than it is for the person being hated.

after a nervous breakdown, i stopped attending meetings in 2005.. i still live in the same place, have the same phone #, and work at the same job.
after about two visits by the elders to "encourage" me, i have been pretty much left alone.
my college daughter is still very much a zealous jw, in fact she was on the circuit assembly program 2 weeks ago.. well, this rabid jw, who once caused a scandal by her most un-jw-like conduct, (i refer to her as a reformed strumped) is calling on the woman who lives across from me.
I told her I couldn't stomach the meetings because the "slave"has pushed Jesus of Nazareth aside and is occupying His place in the hearts and minds of JW's.
I love this. In fact, the only time I ever seemed to cause a JW coming to my door to at least look uncertain was when I mentioned replacing or denying Jesus in the Memorial.
Great job holding your ground. And at least the lady across the way has someone to speak to who has been in and out of the WT. Hope you keep us posted.

I don't know if anyone mentioned dill? I love dill on just about any type of salad.

You don't owe anyone an apology or even an explanation, Asilentone! I would start by adding paprika or garlic to my potato salad.
But some of us who can hear should be "totally ashamed" of their use of the English language and their spelling. . . broken promises
This should be,
But some of us who can hear should be "totally ashamed" of our use of the English language and our spelling...
I also think use should be usage... if we're really splitting hairs here.
Usage.
Usage is a guide on how to use something properly; use means "one or more instances of using something," or "function." Thus the use of a semicolon is to separate clauses, while its usage is the list of rules on exactly how it has to be used. Someone who knows the use of a word understands how it fits in a sentence; someone who knows the usage has studied the grammatical rules, semantic relations, and appropriate mechanics. Each time you use something, that's one use (the noun), not one usage. Unless you're talking about grammar, you usually mean use rather than usage: don't use the longer word just because it sounds more impressive.

When she drops off the cliff I always think Magua is confused about why she would do that.
I got this impression too, Lady Lee.
Just saw How to Train Your Dragon in 3D with my boys. Fantastic! Am going to see Clash of the Titans this weekend. Its hyped up and I have doubt about it, but I loved the original.

john the baptiser has his birth feast day six months prior to christmas eve, on june 24. this celebration is one of the oldest, if not the oldest commemorating a saint.
the celebration of the beheading of st. john the baptist, august 29, is nearly as old as his nativity.. liturgy.co.nz.
several florida churches said they are celebrating the jewish holiday passover with seders reorganized with a christian spin.. http://www.upi.com/odd_news/2010/03/29/fla-christians-celebrate-passover/upi-29491269891482/.
On Remembrance Day, are we celebrating all the gruesome deaths of the war? Or are we paying honor and thanks to those who died for us?
