its an important movie about understanding a very specific phenomenon in our lifetime. men who are on the cusp because they act, seem and feel masculine but are sexually drawn to men. a large number of them marry and this is what happens to some of them. maybe it means a lot to me because i have seen it happen several times in real life.
i was grateful it was not turned into soft porn. there is plenty of gay porn in the world.
it allows you to concentrate on what is happening in the men's hearts.
lower sex drive for men anyway
begin indicates that no life occurred for 39 years, that's not true.
i think you have to learn to experience the world a bit differently
you have more knowledge, so you should be able to make better decisions about your life
most people have kids and grandkids coming, grandkids could be considered the beginning of life i suppose.

Hi Mulan,
I wish you would reconsider. there are no explicit gay sex scenes, there is one explicit heterosexual sex scene, but the story is about love and the pain of love and the fact that two masculine country men can experience it.

The movie you refer to is Making Love, 1982, Starring Harry Hamlin and Michael Ontkean. Great Movie. I had a huge crush on Michael Ontkeon at the time. I had earlier seen a movie called Slap Shot where you get to see his butt.

see, this is something that is sad. gay people don't put straight people down or refuse to go see movies about them, or root for them to succeed in marriage and with their kids even though all these things are totally foreign to our experience as humans. we don't mind you being who you are and being happy, even while at the same time many of you don't hope the same for us.

okay now that i am recovered from the boob shot.
its just a movie. its just a story. its a story that hasn't been told on film. there are a lot more gay stories that have not been done on film. there are tons of coming out stories, but they are all about teenagers. there are 1000s of stories seen from the gay man's angle and gay woman's angle that haven't been told. are people interested in them? i think they probably are if they are well done and i think this movie proves that.
there is a great book about two pro baseball players that fall in love, i'll bet that is the next one we see that gets tons of press. i read it about 10 years ago. its a great story.
there has actually been a story about a bear gay man, made in spain, but fantastic, called A Bear Cub. its a gritty, true story, it should have gone on my top 10 list. argh.

i always wonder where the bestiality angle comes in here. i'm generally against bestiality because i see it as the abuse of a living entity that cannot give its consent for what is being done, but I suppose that if it was proven that the animal gets joy and satisfaction from it, that I would not have a problem with it, although it doesn't interest me.
the comparison always amuses me i guess. if it is two men or two women, then somehow one of the humans becomes an animal?
an another thing: do you only go see movies where you would participate in the activity on the screen yourself? that leaves out murder movies, movies with car chase scenes, innumerable subject matter. even nature documentaries. i'm guessing you would not find the idea of regurgitating food to your young palatable, its gross, i won't support it.
how bout going to a movie just to learn something, expose yourself to a different way of thought.
no wait y'all are Jehovah's Witnesses.
no wait you aren't anymore.
doh!
there is only one law, love your neighbor as yourself.. very simple words that get buried under lots of gobbledegook.
we strain to rid ourselves of the guilt of the shoulds that were cast upon us throughout our life.. we run our lives based on these shoulds and apply these shoulds to others.. there are two parts to the law.
love your neighbor gets most of the attention.
do what you will, but harm none.
love yourselves.
it takes the place of natural resources.
it allows natural resources to be allocated lopsidedly.
it is destroying more and more of the natural world every day.
you are incorrect, it is the mechanism of money that allows the natural balance of resources to be undermined. its destroying us daily.

can you see yourself taking a similar step if you were in circumstances like his?
these strategies won't work. just like the Chinese are learning about Western consumerism. JW's see the way the world really works. they know they can't survive on repetitive meetings.
