some of you might remember my situation....i have daed myself a while ago, and my father is the only jw in the family.
since i am very close to him and the family, he has read everything related to shunning, he even asked elders and even them are not sure.
so he wrote a big long letter to bethel to have an answer.
they didn't really answer his question, just assure him its okay for him to talk to you.
i bumped into a jw at the store the other day.
he doesn't know i'm df'd (apparently) and i didn't decide to enlighten him.
he banged on for a bit about people we both knew, how service was that morning, etc.
population of the earth is now almost 6 1/2 billion.
i know this is probably pointless to some but i just feel like posting to those who can relate.. i am going to visit my ministerial servant, liasion committe, 85 year old dad.
he lives in florida.
i am taking my kids and husband with me.
my parents are also in their 80's. i've tried logic, bringing up topics that i've read about that don't make sense. they are happy where they are, they've been witnesses for 60 years, they just want to die in peace with their beliefs as they are.
they don't fuss at me much anymore, after 20 years i guess they have pretty much given up.
i honor them as my parents and love them and just nod politely if they say something witnessy.
bless their hearts, they are wonderful people. i just wish the Watchtower hadn't stolen their lives from them. i love them very much.

i believe strongly in discovering your own belief system, not simply adopting a belief system that a group or organization proposes to you or tries to sell you on.. god is personal.
i simply don't buy into this god wants us to be in groups thing.. groups inevitably create hierarchy, hierarchy is bad.. find god, be spiritual, it fills you with a feeling that makes you want to share goodness with others.

i thought i would let you know that my dad, passed away a little while ago, tonight, january 23. they called me at 6pm to tell me.
he had been failing rapidly for the past month, and had completely lost his hearing and was totally blind.
the dementia was extreme too, and he still knew me on thursday, but didn't wake up to know me in the following days.
Hi Mulan,
I wish you a peaceful mind and heart in this time of grief.
HUGS
Joel
.
i plan on beginning to stalk him on his 18th birthday.
i am going to dress up like the men in brokeback mountain.
no breasts please, i'm begging you.
wait, does Richie have breasts?
looks like the college degree is the new high school diploma.. somehow, i can't see watchtower reinquishing their stand on higher education.... .

new york (cnnmoney.com) if ever you find yourself pining for your 20s or 30s, you might reconsider.
the society won't change its message but witnesses will change their behavior
there have been much research lately into the biographies of ct russell and "judge" rutherford, the first and second presidents of the watchtower bible and tract society, but not so much research into the biography of the third president of the wbts, nathan homer knorr.. as there are many people still living, and who also post here at jwd, who knew nathan knorr personally, it might be worthwhile to start a thread about the life and personality of knorr.. so if anyone has any knorr stories, please post them here.
i will start off by posting some basic biographical information.. --vm44.
nathan homer knorr.
one word stood out in my mind from the long article. "profitable"
i was stunned when i was pioneering when a CO told me not to say to a householder that we ask for
a contribution to cover the cost of printing because it didn't cost anywhere near that amount to print
the books.
shocked young idealist
if contributions to the watchtower keep falling and expenses rising, then:.
1) they will finally end the awake magazine completely.
( good riddance).
they have very very deep pockets, i mean they are rolling in dough.
don't count on "the preaching work" to end in our life times.
