Can JW's run the New System without worldly people?
by moshe inhttp://www.history.com/content/life_after_people/about-the-series.
i get a chuckle when i watch that show on tuesday nights as it portrays what would happen the the world, if people should all dissapear.
since jw's are only 2/10% of the world's population and almost zero% in many countries the infrastructure would rapidly decay.

Moshe, where does this come from?
Since JW's are only 2/10% of the world's population
What does 2/10% mean? I'm no mathematician but that looks like 5% of the world's population to me?
Quick math, and luckily there are nice round figures to calculate with........ let's say there are around 7 million JW's (7,000,000) and the world has around 7 billion people (7,000,000,000, with "billion" meaning the US short scale, not the original European long scale which would call it 7 thousand million, or 7 milliard)......
So 7,000,000 out of 70,000,000 would be 10%.
7,000,000 out of 700,000,000 would be 1%.
7,000,000 out of 7,000,000,000 is 0.1%.
That means that 99.9% of humans are destined to die according to JW-centric prophecy. Just saying.

What's in it for the Governing Body?
by dissed infor many jw's, they point to the gb as wonderful examples of zealous, humble, older men that are only serving jg for right and correct reasons.. unlike many of the preachers we see on tv, they are, and this is the important point, 'not in it for the money'.. of course we see them differently on this site, exposed many times over, as being self-serving hypocrites.. but if you want to win-over a jw doubter, this is one of the questions you have to answer.
"what's in it for the gb member?
why are they doing this if not for the money?".

The main thing I enjoyed about the Book Study was the coffee and cake afterwards. (When I was lucky enough to be assigned to that kind of group.)

Very moving. Thanks to Cynthia for writing about it. And Uncle Jim sounds like a good man.
She had exactly the right attitude - if someone doesn't want to speak to you, well there are plenty of people who do, and whose life you can enrich, both ways. Shunners don't realize how much they are missing out on by shunning, do they?

I think the Revelation Book, perhaps the second time we "studied" (hahaha) it, was the one where I started to wake up as it started to reveal my cognitive dissonance to me. Everything is figuratively applied to the early history of the cult in the United States, and to world politics of the early to mid 20th century, except when it's literal. And the literal parts are totally random, like all the numbers are figurative except for the seven trumpets and the 144,000, yeh that makes sense.
Does anyone recall when we studied the Revelation Book? I could probably pinpoint my awakening date from knowing when we "studied" that convoluted piece of trash.

do you know someone who is disfellowshipped or not active who still talks of "truth" and is still judgemental ?
by looloo ini have only known one , who talked more about the "wicked system" and satan and how immoral worldlys are etc than the jws i knew who were still "in" and he ended up abusing my daughter !
still never gone back 14 years after being disfellowshipped , some local dubs take that to mean jehovah didnt want him back till his abusive past (as a jw ) had been found out !
do you know someone very hypocritical ?.

I knew this guy who wasn't disfellowshipped but he'd been inactive for a long time and was living with his girlfriend. He'd say to me "It's the truth, I still know it's the truth, there IS going to be a Big A one day, I just can't live up to the truth right now."
Sickening, not the living with his girlfriend part, the "I know it's the truth" part.

Did You Know A Lot Of "Very Intelligent" JWs?
by minimus inin my lifetime of knowing jehovah's witnesses, i recognized very few as being extremely intelligent.
most seemed to just go along with the program.. i noticed we have a number of "very intelligent" exjws here..

Minimus, I'd be very interested to know what your definition of "extremely intelligent" or "very intelligent" is.
I certainly knew many well-educated, well-read and high-earning JW's who could hold a conversation anywhere with anyone. Beyond that, how do you know they are "extremely intelligent"? That said I must say the presence of the aforementioned well-educated blah-di-blah Jehovah's Witnesses kept me trapped for longer than I should have been.....
