  Cult?

  jw's claim they are not a cult because their kindom hall meetings are open to the public.

  what are your thoughts on this?.

  Remember this next time a Witness stumps you with a question similar to that.

  When it comes to the Jehovaah's Witnesses their logic usually dose not stand up to scrutiany. So remember to always analyze the question quickly before you try to anwser it because it may be nonsensible.

  That statement (we are not a cult because we allow everyone to come to our meetings) is irelevant, it has little to do with the identifying characteristics of a cult, here is why.

  One of the definitive characteristics of a cult is NOT access to its meetings. You can deny access to your meetings and not be a cult or vise versa.

  Therefore that question caannot be used to determine whether or not the Jehovah's Witnesses are a cult.

  But in all fairness though certain sects political, religeous, athleitic, personal relationship or otherwise do restrict access to their gatherings. But this does not necessairly make them a cult.

  That question sends you running on a wild goose chace because it is meaningless. That is the result isnt useful.

  A cult is defined by.

  1) Totalatarian government. i.e The authority figure whether it be a single person or a board of individuals has COMPLETE AND TOTAL CONTROLL of EVERY ASPECT of LIFE of ALL its ADHERENTS.

  2) Its wealth DOESNOT benefit its members.

  3) Its leader is mesianic. [ With the JWs their leaders fulfill a Bible prophesy i.e the faithfull and descrete slave class.]

  4) Its leadership is accountable to NOONE. [ Even though the GB is accountable to their maker after they die (for thoes who believe that we have a maker) they donot have to anwser to any human being.]

  5) They utilize DECIETFULL coercive tacticks inorder to recruit and retain their membership.

  6) Information within the group is restricted to persons depending on their level of authority. [ How many former witnesses have found out more about the organisation when they left than when they were a member?]

  They are many types of cults including political (nazi party), athelitic, interpersonal (gurus) and of course religeous.

  Did you see access to meetings on that list? No. Like I said its a wild goose chace. Yet again I tell you to use your noodle when incountering Witness logic because most of the time it isnt logic at all!

  Moral of the story:

  Letting anyone come to you gatherings dose not disqualify you from beeing a cult. There are many cults whose meetings are open to the public.

  Therefore this does not disqualify the Jehovahs Witnesses from being a cult.

  The reason that I brought this up is because I have been reading through post from when JW.com first started out and it seems that you were a JW apologist.

  But anyways this has nothing to do with the topic at hand except to say that you nolonger believe that the WBTS is the truth but you have remained fathiful to God and still believe in the Bible.

  well now we have it, what appears to be the pre-emptive strike from wt.. as of this friday three families who appeared on the dateline program have been informed judicial committees have been setup with a one week notice and it is alleged that they have been causing "divisions" within the organization.

  i got my letter today, barbara anderson got hers yesterday and the other family earlier this week.. if you were a pr firm would you think it to be a good idea or a bad idea to df everyone a couple of weeks before the dateline program airs?

  what do you think the american public will think of such a move?.

  First pagraph of headline.

  "In an apparent preemptive effort to discredit a plee made from a concerned former Jehovah's Elder the Watchtower Bible & tract Society of New York (legal name of the Jehovah's Witnesses) have formally excomunicatted Mr. Bill Bowen. Mr. Bowen can be stated as saying

  'Am not at all surprised of what occured... it was bound to happen sooner or later but whats really important is that the saftey of many innocent children are at stake and something has to be done. They have implemented and inforced a policy which serves to protect pedophiles all at the sake of preserving the reputation of the Jehovah's Witnesses Organisation in the eye of the public. I could not in good conscience have continued to allow the lives of somany innocent children to be put in jeprody simply to follow an organisational policy.'

  When contacted the for comment Watchtower Bible & Tract Society spokesman Brother Tehocratic War Stragety stated that:

  'We the Jehovah's Witnesses believe in following the Bibles principles, therefore inorder to uphold these sacred principles and continue to obey Gods command we acted accordingly and disfelloshipped Mr. Bowen. For years now we have been trying to accomidate Mr Bowen and have tried tirelessly to encourage him to fulfill his spritual obgligations which he has been neglecting for some time. He was well known in his community for immoral conduct and as a result definitive action had to be taken in accordance with Biblical law to bring Mr. Bowen back into good standing before Jehovah. Since Mr. Bowen was unmistakenly unrepent there wasn nothing further that we could do for him. We love him and are saddened with greif in watching follow the path that he has decided to take. We would gladly accept him back into the fold if only he would bring himselfinto line with what he knows the Bible commands on him. We can assure the public that we absolutely do not enforce any such policy which may be to the detriment of any of our younger members.'
  No futher comment was given by Br. Stragety.

  Mr Bowen can further quoted as saying:
  'For years many children have suffered silently and endured the abuse and scilence but now it is time for the lambs to ROAR and let their voice be heard. We must protect the Children.'
  Mr Bowen is the author of the Website http://www.silentlambs.org where he has carried his fight to protect the children from further abuse.

  He dosent stand a snowball's chance in hell.

  What good will come of this?

  Very Very Very bad publicity for the WT.

  Right now they are most definately reading this thread, as could be expected.

  Imagine all the sinearos.

  Bill gets the shaft the WT looks bad.

  Bill dosent get the shaft the WT still looks bad because the situation with the molesters hasent changed.

  This has got to be a PR nightmare!

  This couldent have been a smart move on their part.

  But then again they dont have a choice.

  All that they can do locally is to spread rumours about you... like if that will help their case. And by now you must be adjusting to nobody speaking to you etc... But its gotta be tough though.

  All I can say is to MILK THIS FOR ALL THE PR ITS WORTH.

  They will try to make you pay so you better watch your back.

  CO talk

  we had our second co talk yesterday, the topic of which was loyalty, thinly veiled as to one another, but dripping with threats toward those who might go against the society.. after the usual drivel about the society being god's organisation, and appreciating their junk food (as an aside, has anyone actually vomitted up any of this "food"??

  just wondering...), i was rudely dragged out of my slumber by the co's harsh declaration that we should shun all those who slipped away from the thruth, as they inactivity is a bad influence.

  he went on to heap the blame on them, "if they feel this way, then they should expect their due", "they bring shunning onto themselves" etc.... has it always been this way?

  My JW daughter told me....

  we were driving in her car a couple of weeks ago, (the night i have visited her kh) and she told me, that she was going to postpone her november trip to italy; instead, she was thinking about going when the new system was here.

  i asked her amusedly: "are there going to be airplanes on the new system?"...

  she responded: "well.... we are going to be using our 100% of our brains".
