6/15 WT - WT Society can Run it's Business - but JW's Can't Have their Own
by flipper inin the typical do as we say , not as we do type mentality - the wt society puts forth in this current wt study article ( jw's only wt ) - that it's not " advisable " or " reasonable " for jehovah's witnesses to seek entering their own business ventures , or further themselves by getting a college education, or even have a career - due to the imminent coming of the alleged " end of the system " or alleged " paradise " .
the guilt and control used here is ridiculous.
in the article titled , " why put jehovah's service first ?

I'm confused. If they are only building on 45 of the 253 acres, why do they need another 50 acres 6 miles away to put temporary construction facilities? It seems like they have plenty of room right at the building site. I smell a rat!

New here - hello!
by sickandtired ini can't believe i'm actually posting here.
i've been lurking for a while and i've been having doubts about this being the "truth" for years and sometimes feel really stuck and hopeless about my situation.
i'm married to an elder (who is 110% jw) and i was for the most part raised in the "truth".

Sickandtired and Amnesiano, I too am in a similar position. My husband was an elder for over 20 years and the only reason he is not one today is because we changed congregations and he had low service time due to his work committments. I woke up almost 6 years ago and have been on an emotional roller coaster ever since. Somedays, I see the prison bars all around me and I feel like a caged animal. Then there are days when it's not so bad and I can't imagine losing all my family and friends. This is what this cult does-when you are a firm believer, it deludes you into investing your whole life and all your energies into it. They don't push you into the cellblock, you walk into it on your own. Trouble is, you don't see the bars there until it's too late. But when you do, especially in our situations, it is only with difficulty that we find our way out.
Leaving cold turkey for me would cut me out of the lives of my grown children and other family members whom I love. So, I have chosen the slow fade. I only attend 3 or 4 meetings a month, service every 3 months (in which I insist on going alone and the pretend to ring the bell, what a crazy way for a grown woman to live!). I still put made up numbers on the slip each month, so I'm not inactive and they'll leave me alone. But in the meantime, I have started asking my family some of the questions that others on this thread have suggested. I always take the opportunity to point out to them the lack of love, the judgemental attitudes and the idolatry of the GB that consistently goes on. While no one in my family has awakened as of yet, I can tell that they are realizing that some of the things I say have validity. But, it is a lonely road to walk somedays. There are times I look around and realize I'm totally surrounded by people living in delusion and I wonder how in the hell I got here. So far, no one in my family has turned me in as an apostate, but as time passes, I start caring less and less if they did. There are days I'm just tired of living like this. But, yet I can't quite work up the courage to just quit because then there are those days when the thought of being cut out of all of their everyday lives is unbearable to me. So I take one day at a time. I've read Ray's book, I read the Tao, Tolle, and other things that help me cope. This board has been a life saver for me, just knowing there are people out there who understand, who've walked this path before me, or are in the same situation as myself, alleviates the feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Please feel free to pm me anytime. Perhaps we can exchange contact info. if you ever need anyone to talk to.

Do they use Jehovah's name repeatedly because it's their name?
by WalkTall ini was thinking when reading another thread where it was mentioned how god's name was never used in the nt, but how often it is uttered in khs that it is used so often, not because we need to use his name, but because it is the name associated with their organization.
it is their name really.
could that be why it's used so often?.

June 15th WT ( again) JW's told " Elders are Imperfect " Give them a Break
by flipper inthis is one subject that really annoyed me when i was a jehovah's witness - and i find it still annoys me after being out 7 years from the jw's.
the title of this jw only wt study article is " have regard for those who are working hard among you ".
in my opinion there always seemed to be a double standard in which rank and file publishers were always told to be patient with elders shortcomings - however if rank and file publishers slipped up - elders would be into admonishing and disciplining them like flies attracted to dung with no delay.

To go along with their own illustration of the physician, why would I listen to a doctor to MAY have a medical degree? Before I agreed to follow his advise, I better be pretty darn well sure he is qualified to give it. Not so with elders apparently, Jehovah may be using them, or maybe not. But be a good little submissive Witness and do as they say anyway. Yeah, right.

Memorial musings
by undercover inthings i thought about during the memorial talk last night:.
i don't know if it was just the memorial i went to or if this was across the board, but it seems that the talk was dumbed down a bit more than it had been in the past.
not that it wouldn't surprise me if was dumbed down.

At 12 minutes in, our speaker was all done talking about Jesus, and that's including the opening song and prayer! From that point on, it was all about the anointed. It's such a joke to advertise this fiasco as memorializing Jesus.

Just came from the meeting. Everyone sang the last song with gusto! Wonder how long that will last? Most likely, this article will be forgotten by the next meeting and everyone will be back to stumbling through the WT's musical mess.

CO's putting the screws on elder bodies, and ministerial servants to auxilliary pioneer this April.
by miseryloveselders ini have such a love/hate, 50/50 relationship with this organization any more, but a letter was read to the elders and ministerial servants that has pushed me to the 30/70 range in favor of hate, if even momentarily.
most of you if not all are aware of the auxilliary pioneering initiative for this upcoming april.
it's no secret that i'm not real fond of pioneering as its unscriptural for one thing.

It always irritates me how every year they push pioneering in April, and this year more than most with their 30 hour allowance. For most people, you are cooped up all winter with the short days and freezing temperatures, and now you can finally get out to enjoy the sunshine, plant a garden, work in your yard, whatever. But, nooooo. JW's must spend every April weekend jammed into a car, riding around with people they could care less about, and knock on empty doors. Why can't they let the r&f even enjoy spring without a guilt trip?
Oh yeah, I forgot, they don't care.
