Why do some see only in black and white and seek to impose their labels on others?
i'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

Your devotion to your husband and your feelings about his treatment at his mother's hands do mean a great deal. Personally, I have no idea where I'd be if it weren't for my wife's unconditional love and support, especially in the face of emotional abuse at the hands of family.

I'm thinking of you, and hoping that you can find an answer that you can live with. I won't try to give advice; my opinion is (amazingly!) not that important anyway.

i'm pleased to have found this site...i've browsed a little ...read quite a lot and gasped at some stories, giggled at the one liners and nodded in recognition of others' strong opinions and can relate to a great deal.. i'll try and keep my intro as brief as possible for anyone kind enough to listen.. i got involved with the witnesses in the late 70's in the uk.
i was in my early 20s and had had a love and fascination for the bible since my difficult childhood.
i soon brought my life into 'line' although it took a long time for me to pack up the smoking which didnt go down well in those days when 6 months of study should have been enough and if you hadnt cracked it then it was suggested that you were some kind of loser.... i reared my 4 children in the 'truth' as well as i could but i cant claim that we were a 'strong' family in their terms...just muddled along really..my husband at the time was a very difficult and abusive man and home life wasnt easy for any of us with his anger, jealousy and violence.

honestly, would you be troubled if this site ceased to exist?.
It has served its purpose very well in my life and in many others, I'm sure. I hope that it will continue to do so for a long time. I hope to stick around to put in my two cents when I can, although work, family, and a newly budding social life come first.
Honestly, this site and the people who post here have been a true lifesaver for me. Thanks Simon, Angharad, all the mods, and all of you.

yeah, i know it means nothing....but it gives you an idea of how deep i've been a jw.. i don't even really know what to write at this point.
I understand how you feel right now, daringhart... so many of us were simply stunned by the love and compassion that comes from people that are so rigorously slandered by the Organization.
I am so glad that you're here and sticking around. You will learn a lot, you will find support, you may even meet new friends in person! There is no rule saying that we all have to agree on everything - you will find some healthy, and, at times, heated debates on all kinds of subjects. This board is populated by passionate individuals who in some cases are exercising their ability to think critically for the first time.
Again, glad you're here, and can't wait to hear more of your story.
