What I may or may not believe is impossible for you to have any inkling whatsoever. But, more to the point, it is entirely irrelevant to this exchange. I speak of what I know for a fact occurred and why, with no need to depend on what I or anyone else believes.
The factual MJ account offers quite the intriguing insight into surprising and unexpected ways, at least to me, the leadership of this corporation strategized in specific aspects of its oversight and with regard to its attempts at rehabbing its stature among the faithful in that precarious decade following its failed 1975 prophecy and "The Great Apostasy."

Lol! A not very clever attempt to twist the subject. Nobody's claiming any change in any kind of policy, major or otherwise. I speak of judicial cases in which the WTS has felt forced to act in response to R&F outcry. Confused much?
Still, if I deigned to indulge your mangled challenge, my favorite might involve an incident (and subsequent judicial case) a few years before the MJ events regarding (the specific # I will not disclose) other very popular and regarded JW celebrities who transgressed--according to petty JW rules & regs--on a highly-visible entertainment forum. The WTS was more than content to overlook the matter until the local circuit's R&F refused to relent in their ripping their outer garments in vocal demand for HQ action.
I'll offer no more detail, but am obliged to repeat that you are either misinformed, inexperienced in matters such as these, or perhaps merely naïve.
But it's your right to think what you will. It's with no small amount of pride I submit that I am well and truly past any compulsion to whip out my spouse's and my JW bona fides to measure whose is...[ahem]...longer, if you will, in the competition to impress ex-JWs.
I'm happy to let you "win," Shirl. Continue to have it your way, friend, no hard feelings.

With respect, I am aware of considerably more about what transpired than "a little about" from a friend in Cali.
Although there was certainly more to the MJ saga than JW uproar, that uproar certainly did create a huge headache for the Society they finally could not disregard. You're quite misinformed if you believe the WTS did not respond to certain members' outcries, even back in the day.

As for the Society's "seeing past MJ's $$$ to warn him," nothing of the kind happened. It was the relentless outrage on the part of resentful, working-stiff rank and file JWs that forced their hand. They did everything they possibly could to keep him within the fold and his cash flowing in until they and he had no choice but to part fellowship.

So true, but you gotta hold online apostates responsible for this bit of FULL DISCLOSURE--JW STYLE. There was a time not so very long ago when the bit of Roku dealmaking would never have been included in a BoE letter or letter to congregations.
In bygone days, before the interwebs, when the only means of even attempting to awaken any minds by exposing TTATT was to picket conventions or send anonymous snail mail, information dissemination was virtually non-existent for ex-dub freedom fighters. Not so any longer. Now that the intricate details of all their backroom shenanigans are plastered online before they can declare "The end is [still] near!", the WTS deems it'd better fully disclose what it considers the least damaging of its "strategery" (see The Linguistic Contributions of former U. S. President George W. Bush) themselves before JWN does and accuses them of concealing their true Babylonish ways.
Who can possibly still believe the WT organization isn't keenly attuned to forums such as this?

I frankly don't see this ever happening. My guess is that the channel will be primarily for non-JWs and extra-meeting material.
The WTS is all about control and obeisance. The incessant in-person drumbeat is essential to the indoctrination that fuels their arrogated authority. Risk the chance of sheep using their DVRs to fast-forward through Public and Student Talks on obedience and loyalty to the organization and FDS? or Accounts "Report"? or, OMDG,... blowing through the entire Watchtower Study?
Not to mention the temptation to binge-watch recorded meetings when/if they "have time" --winkwink.
Uh...fuhgeddaboutit.
If anything, I expect the beatings on "not forsak[ing] the gathering of ourselves together" to increase exponentially, if that's even possible given the amount of bleating on the subject that presently prevails.

OFF-TOPIC ALERT!
I was just stricken because it seemed so out-of-character for you to be so harsh, especially to a poster who, like me, apparently chooses not to participate much. I have my own reasons as I'm sure s/he does, but there are those who lurk who may have much to contribute here but hang back when they see such a blast against what seems to have been an innocent inquiry.
Besides, if we're being honest here, a fair number of threads wander off (like this one you say...? ;-)). Is it really such a big deal, though? Does such really warrant such harshness on an open, nearly-anything-goes forum? (And don't get me wrong. I'm no prude. In a verbal battle, I am a blackbelt Sarcasteur...lol!)
Was just somewhat disappointed at this, felt terrible for GreenHornChristian, and was moved to offer my observation. No more, no less.

I could answer that, but it's a bit off topic and requires that you have at least a fundamental understanding of the laws of physics concerning reflected and refracted light.
Way to miss the point of this thread.

Wow! Why such snarky sarcasm for a benign inquiry, Oubliette?!
The explanation is the following... The logo is back lighted by blue lights, so in the camera, the light coming directly from the letters is interpreted in the camera's sensor as white (it's too bright, or a blown-out highlight in photographic terms), so, when that same light is reflected from the floor, as the floor it's not a perfect mirror, you have *less* light coming, so you have the same light *underexposed*, and that underexposition let you see that the color of the light is blue, not a bluish white due to overexposure, the same happens in the wall beacausethe wall is less reflective too :)
