i knew that jehovah's witnesses were callous and cruel but this just takes it to a new level.. my children's house was burned in a fire and their idiot mother (my ex wife) did not have insurance on the house.. home depot is trying to help them and has offered to donate materials to repair the house and has asked habitat for humanity to get involved to supply the labor.. the habitat for humanity district manager came to my children's house and met the home depot district manager and my children.. after they left my children's grandmother (who lives in the house) told them that if habitat for humanity is involved in fixing the house that she will refuse to live there any more because they are involved with christendom.
so, she is putting pressure on my ex wife to leave the house burned and leave my chlidren (her grandchildren) homeless.. my middle daughter said "well, we will miss you when you leave".
my youngest daughter said, "well i guess i won't be seeing you any more because i refuse to live in a burned house when people are offering to help fix it but you and my mother are so stupid and retarded that you won't let them help".. please tell me that my ex wife won't be stupid enough to go along with this nonsense.
Habitat does not discuss religion with the people they help. The volunteers that run the organization are Christians
I will vouch for that, having helped our local chapter. Habitat for Humanity strictly follows their own anti-discrimination policies, beyond the letter of the law. The selection committee does not ask and does not consider the religion of the applicants, only their need for a home, their ability to repay the no-interest mortgage, and willingness to contribute "sweat equity" for the down payment. Their mision is to help families who can own a home with Habitat's assistance, but couldn't otherwise. Habitat is an ecumenical Christian organization, with volunteers who are mainline Protestants, Evangelicals, Catholics, and yes JWs are welcome too. What matters is doing good for others in need, not your denomination.

hello all, i had some questions regarding the booklet 'should you believe in the trinity?
' i should mention that i'm a catholic and my brother is a jw baptised some 15-20 years ago.
since he found 'the truth' he had been quite vocal regarding the manyu, many false teachings of the catholic church.
Please see this article at the Institute for Religious Research. It is a refutation of the WT anti-trinitarian position from a conservative Protestant point of view.
Sorry to be so late replying to this!

i forgot i needed to load ie to put up a youtube video.. there was such great music in the 1960's and early 1970's it's hard to remember them all.
here are two great ones from that era.. in my lifetime there has been no period of less than a decade that has produced anywhere near the amount of great music that was produced in those years.. farkel.
How can this thread go so long with nothing from the Grateful Dead?

Bangalore, pm for you.
were you ever somewhat projw when you first came to this site?.
No, none for the organization. I've never been a member, only married in. At one time, I thought the WT teachings were eccentric, but basically harmless. Before I started reading here and related sites, living among Witness in-laws had convinced me that their doctrines were worse than eccentric, and in fact are dangerous to both the physical and mental well-being of those who follow them.
I started reading here when our mixed marriage hit the skids several years ago, but only began posting after it ended (for self-therapy, I admit).
I still have positive feelings for individual Witnesses: my Ex and kids, even the in-laws. They are the unfortunate victims of the deluded puppet-masters in Brooklyn, not evil persons themselves. Remembering to make the distinction between perpetrator and victim is the key to forgiving the things that they do because of WT doctrines, and being able to forgive is the key to healing and moving on with life.

we all know what says ephesians 5:21-23 (nwt):.
21 be in subjection to one another in fear of christ.
22 let wives be in subjection to their husbands as to the lord, 23 because a husband is head of his wife as the christ also is head of the congregation, he being a savior of [this] body.. others translations like kjv, read something like the nwt.. in the other day, i cross with some information in the net (youtube and other pages of religious ministers) about the subject of women's subjection to the men (husband) and saw that some people say that in the original greek the word subjection don't appear in the vers.
Using verse 22 on its own ignores the message of chapter 5 as a whole. It speaks to the reponsibilities of husbands as well, and it is also important that the context is an allegory comparing Christ's relationship to the Christian church with the relationship between husband and wife. This chapter not only advocates proper relationships between family members, as proper family relationships were understood in the first century, but also metaphorically describes the church as the family of Christ with similar relationships and duties. Keep verse 22 in context by reading all of chapter 5, especially verses 25 through 33 (emphasis mine):
(25) Husbands should love their wives, just as Christ loved the church and sacrificed himself for her
(26) to make her holy by washing her in cleansing water with a form of words,
(27) so that when he took the church to himself she would be glorious, with no speck or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and faultless.
(28) In the same way, husbands must love their wives as they love their own bodies; for a man to love his wife is for him to love himself.
(29) A man never hates his own body, but he feeds it and looks after it; and that is the way Christ treats his church,
(30) because we are parts of his body.
(31) "This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and the two become one flesh." [quoting Gen 2:24]
(32) This mystery has great significance, but I am applying it to Christ and the Church.
(33) To sum up: you also, each one of you, must love his wife as he loves himself; and let every wife respect her husband.
(quoted text is from the New Jerusalem Bible)

there are a couple of jw zealots campaingning in wikipedia to delete the silent lambs article.
i'd like to request your editing time in order to search for additional references to be included and make their censoring task imposible.
thanks.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/silentlambs.
Would a link to the 48 hours video help? The problem with their settling cases and having gag orders is that you can't cite the records from the court cases, there's basically nothing there to see.
i won't be going if i can help it, but id like a heads up about it, just to be forewarned.
The closest I ever got to the memorial was one time I dropped off my fiance at the KH and picked her up afterwards. I spent my waiting time at a near by bar and grill, eating a burger and drinking a beer while watching the hockey game on TV. That's a much more pleasant way to nibble and sip!
