  Memorial Attendance: "What's Going On?"

  spoke to my dad today who attended the beckenham (london/kent) congregation's memorial - he said that for the first time the attendance was seriously down - 203 as opposed to last year's 250 and that penge (congregation that shares the hall) had a similar experience.

  it's called the internet dad.. can we have a roll call of numbers from those that attended please?

  (or if it's been covered already, a link?).

  Okay, let me get this straight, attendence is down in many congregations and yet, no memorial food was left over to take home in doggie bags. uhm.....

  Tons and tons of Elders letters.

  i have tons of elders letters which were part of a website about 7 years ago and if my memory proves correct it was taken down due to bullying by the society.. i was wondering if these letters were still out there somewhere, because if not i'll upload them.

  they are all in catergories.

  at the end i started making excuses to leave (supposedly work related) so that i could just get out of there.

  That was really an act of mine to get out of paying attention to those meetings. I went on to college, became an attorney, then a US Senator, and am now President of the US and leader of the free world. jk,jk,jk......

  But I did have a back problem that let me get up, go to the back, and 'turn off' the meetings.

  Yeah Keysor, commonality was almost never the concern.

  Your spiritual equal? - One nutcase of a Bethel Elder told a few of us that if we are interested in someone, we should check with the PO of her congregation. Even to the point of looking at her publisher cards for a history. (is that even possible?)

  As he warned us, "Some of these sisters, you can't trust. They could be acting spiritual just to get you" Like we were some sort of prize.........lol

  my personal recommendation: synecdoche, new york.

  it's one of those movies that words fail utterly to capture--which really is the hallmark of a good movie, i suppose.

  Yeabook 2010 cover up -Rutherford's false prophecy that Armagedon was coming in 1925....half the Publishers leave the truth!

  this years yearbook covers "albainia" as i read these experiences i get to around 1920-25 and i notice that 3 or 4 healthy congregations turn into just 13-14 publishers by 1926 after "a time of trouble.

  " although not mentioned this "trouble" was rutherford's "millions now living will never die" campaign with the watchtower saying armagedon was coming in 1925. most european congregations by 1926 lost whole congregations with only 3-10 "faithful " remaining {e.g poland, romania yearbook experiences} notice how the graph starts from the 1940's to avoid and cover up showing the flat lined publisher figures after 1925.....{notice also dips after 1975}.

  however, check out the 2006 yearbook page 80. romania graph, and you see a flat lined publisher figure at 1926. the witnesses had to start from scratch.

  He just likes to do these things, its part of his personality (see JG asking Abraham on April Fools Day to sacrifice his son)

  Some could say he is insecure. "Do you love me prove it! Damn it! I need reassurance!" (see parents sacrificing their very own children by denying them a needed blood transfusion)

  Using the GB to teach lies and false prophecies, then claiming it was for 'sifting' (see last 100 years of WTS)

  What charitable works does the WTBS do in the UK?

  in the uk they are registered as a charity.

  its made clear from the platform that this is for tax reasons, they get a nice tax break from the goverment.

  but what charitable works do they actualy do?.

  When anyone thinks of the normal use of the word 'Charity' like you used, the WTS will not ocme to mind. Only on a technicality, can they get this exemption.

  Looking over there financial report for the Charitable Commission from two years ago, it showed they took in tens of millions but only spent 100,000 in disaster relief 'outside' the country. That would represent only a smallest portion of there budget.

  If still "in", how do you feel when praying in front of a group despite being in doubt of your beliefs?

  it happened to me this weekend.

  i'm curently "active" and had some long time friends from a different congregation over for dinner.. we went through the formality of praying before the meal.

  normally or rather lately i've been passing it off to someone else.

  Very interesting thread idea........

  I went through the 'motions' for about 9 months with pretend prayers, before leaving formally. They were quick, they were simple, they were to the point. Funny, a newer one approached me, and said him and his wife really liked my prayers and were using me as an example at home.

  also, do you think gas prices affects the jw field service any?.

  here it is approximately $2.69 per gallon.

  i heard in michigan it is $2.99 right now.. outaservice.

  i wanted all of you to know how much you have helped me in the few short weeks that i have been here.. i was starting to sink into a very deep and dangerous depression, wrestling with the lies that i have been taught all of my life, and feeling like i was evil because i did not want to follow anymore.

  fearing that i was deeply offending god and hurting him.. since being on this site, the weight is starting to be lifted.

  the thick veil of fog is slowly starting to clear, and i feel like i can live!
