Our tradition for Christmas dinner is Prime Rib. But it really doesn't matter what you serve, because it all revolves around being with the people you are blessed to have in your life.

this isn't meant to be insulting, this is stuff i honestly want to know from you guys....
do you call it "fall" rather than "authum" ( spelt that wrong).
"dipers" instead of "nappies"?.
I think the British accent thing was helped along by the James Bond movies, not only by the so called "British invasion" in rock & roll in the 60s. The type of accent in the movies came to mean sexy, intelligent, suave, and slightly dangerous. All of those things are pretty intoxicating to American women.

no nativity .
there will be no nativity scene in washington dc this year!
the supreme court has ruled that there cannot be a nativity scene in the united states' capital this christmas season.
heh
so my mom came down for a visit a few weekends ago, since i knew nothing about it till she got in town, i opted out on seeing her her.. she did not leave a very good lasting impression on my daughter and my grand daughter would not have anything to do with her (babies have such great intuition).
my mom has not been preaching much to my daughter, but left her quite a library when she left town.. .
yesterday she calls my daughter and grills her about why i don't go to meetings anymore, she is upset that i influenced her to get in the truth(which is not really true) and then give her a book to read (coc) saying bad things about the organization.. my daughter told my mom there were allot of coverups in the congo and older men doing inappropriate things with younger girls(i have not told many things on this board about my congo) my mom said that i did not love jehovah enough to let that bother me enough to keep me from going to the meetings.
Your daughter has a good head on her shoulders, you should be proud. She was able to hold her own very well against what sounds like a very manipulative person. I don't know how old your mom is, but she may well be losing some memory, we tend to do that as we age.
Our dub parents, gotta love em, they're absolutely nuts, aren't they? Take my mom, for instance, I guess she thinks that she can't get anywhere with me so she can just go around me to my son. Well she sent him a card that said, 'I'm sorry your mom won't allow you to have any contact with us, we love you and want you to learn about jehovah." hmmm well they are the ones that have DF'd me (never DA or DF officially just dropped out of sight). My son won't have anything to do with them anyway. He told me that until they drop the pretence and make it up to me for all the things they put me through he won't have anything to do with them.
i was reading an article online, about the upcoming vatican ruling on a shrine in the balkins.
the shrine is built in a place where people say the virgin mary has been appearing, and people have been going there in the hundreds of thousands sort of like the lourdes thing.
after the article, which supposes that the pope will rule that this is all from satan and meant to lead people away from the church, there were comments from people regarding the phenomena, the expected ruling, etc.
Narkissos, thanks for pointing out that faith is not limited to christianity. For instance, I am not a christian, and I would say I have faith, just not in the same flavor of the divine. I feel that proof strengthens and justifies faith, it doesn't turn you into a non-believer if you have seen something that proves to you beyond a reasonable doubt. Or does that make you a knower, instead of a believer?
I'm not sure that this argument can ever be settled, however, those that believe one way will never be convinced otherwise I suppose.

elders love to counsel people.
it feeds their ego.
over the years, you must've been counseled on different things.. when i was almost of age to become a ms, an elder counseled me for my "lack of seriousness".
1. While in a car packed with 8 people, a single brother gave me a peck on the lips. Someone turned me in and I was counseled for kissing someone while I was not either engaged or married to them.
2. Walking into the Worlds Fair in Spokane Washington, I was accosted by a clown. I started teasing back. I was hauled in and counseld for "flirting" with a worldly person.
3. Numerous times for my dress infractions (I was quite a dish, once, and thats always a problem).
4. Numerous times for associating with my best friend. We were individually told that we were bad for each other because when we got together we egged each other on.
Someone was always turning me in for something, I can't begin to tell you the countless times I stumbled someone and got dragged before them in my teenage years.

I wondered how he backs up that statement? Anyone know a scripture that says that? Is this a Catholic thing or true for all christians?

This one caught my eye, because this person believes that worship only counts if it's based on faith of gods existance and not absolute proof of god's existance. Any thoughts on this, other than the guy's a crackpot? Here is his comment:
One of the common theories put around concerning Medjugorije is that these manifestations are the work of Satan.
One of the common responses is “Why would Satan do something which only reinforces faith in God?”
The answer is obvious. God requires faith from his followers. Faith means you believe without evidence.
If God were to provide direct evidence that he exists, there would be no need for faith. Because direct evidence would mean God is a fact, not a belief.
Why believe something which is proven? You don’t need to *believe* something is true, because evidence means you *know* it is true.
So why would Satan create these manifestations? Because it destroys faith. People think there is actual evidence god exists, so they no longer need faith.
Those people who view the miracle might worship God. But they worship him because they saw *evidence* he exists. Not because they have faith he exists.
And if people don’t have faith in God, where do they end up? You guessed it. Oblivion.
So think. All those people going to see the manifestations, might just end up on the highway to hell courtesy of the deceiver’s clamshell tricks.
I don’t know about you, but why would anyone want to risk their soul in such a way? True faith shouldn’t need proof anyway.
any of you who believe in satan or demons, have you had experiences with them?.
have you ever seen satan?.
Oh, back on topic, my mom tells my siblings I am demonized. yawn

Satan and his demonz were created to put the fear of god into gullible people.
However, if you want a GREAT laugh on the topic, read the Book "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. The story starts with the birth of the anti-christ, who gets mixed up at the hospital and given to the wrong parents to raise. The demon drives around in a GTO playing 8-Track tapes of Queen, and isn't quite as bad as you might think he would be. The angel has his doubts about theology, and isn't quite as pure as the driven snow. Its quite the comedy as they race around trying to save the world from the anti-christ, who is now proving that nurture has some effect on nature.
