We all loved Domi, Probert, Kocur, etc.......anyone who got up, made a scene and walked out would have been told to not let the door hit them on the way out. One of my CO's loved hockey too - he would have been ready to drop the gloves and join in if he could.....LOL
for myself growing up in the 60's it was mostly the beatles that drew my attention as well as many others.. as for the entire body of work by them, there might never be another four piece musical group like them.. sad to think that the younger generation today only has thug rap/hip hop trash or britney spears to listen to.. the quality of music may have diminished itself when it started to become more of a visual expression of art rather than .

I would love to write a scathing, blistering, "Fat Man and Little Boy" bomb to the WTBS, but right now my family is my first concern.
I still care about many of the people in the congregation, but I really do HATE the Society.....the organization itself is uncaring and dogmatic, like Ray F clearly showed. I think of them as Religious Nazi's - so blinded by their fervor and drunk with power, while they run rough-shod over people.
My family wouldnt shun me since they never have done it to other family members, but it would be a strain. If I even allude to speaking against the Society, it makes them really uncomfortable. I think I could get DF'ed for being alcoholic, smoking, etc....and they would be less stressed out than if I were to go out with both guns blazing. I keep my arguments generic, without pulling that card out. I tried it once and it was a really big mess with a few family members. I smoothed it over quickly, but it showed me that the time is not right.
I have really let go a lot of the resentment and bitterness towards the whole thing (after I just described how much I hate the society - LOL) , now I just look at it as a life-lesson (albeit a huge one that wasted a lot of time and tears) - I am too busy thinking about the end goal to abandon my plan right now. I feel really peaceful about knowing that the TRUTH is not THE TRUTH.....that makes me feel great everyday.
Plus, like you said, I look at it like they are victims to good intentions. They want to do what is right, unfortunately they are under the influence of a wolf dressed in sheeps clothing.

I would love to tell them where to go, but I actually really like the Elder who I spoke with. He is a good guy, but unfortunately a company man too.
Mouthy - I feel more and more optimistic with my wife all the time. She is very accepting of the situation. Our relationship is really better than it ever has been. She doesnt guilt me about anything anymore, and she was laughing about the talk situation. She knew I had no intention of giving one again anyway. The funny thing is that I used to be the School Overseer (TM) and used to give impromptu talks all the time. Those were usually my best ones!
She used to say I didnt communicate enough - once I was tired of being miserable and poured out my heart, we really started to improve our entire relationship. She was cool when I resigned as an elder, and she was glad to have me all to herself after many years of marriage and elder BS.
I think right now my wife is being "won over without saying a word"
I am supportive of her, but she knows I am clear on my position. I think she felt the same hurt and resentment the last year but isnt ready for the next step. I have mentioned on here before that a close member of the family was disfellowshipped by a kangaroo court, and she was livid. We never once broke contact with the family member. That was encouraging to me, since when we got married this same family member was DF'ed from a "previous offense" and she was very uncomfortable around her.
She doesnt really disagree with me on a ton of points- she sees the hypocrisy, she has seen that Big Brother doesnt give a - - - - about the "Brothers and Sisters" and she has seen plenty of BOZO elders. She is still intent on "Serving Jehovah", so I am working on her slowly.
A HEARTFELT thanks to all of you - this board has been a "godsend" since I feel like I can come on here and discuss things that I havent been able to talk about openly for my entire life......I am looking forward to the day of sharing more and more of my experiences so I can "Pay it Forward"

Ive blown off the last couple of talks I was assigned, so I assumed they werent giving me anymore....that was my first mistake!
Well, I got a call a while ago "Hey lepermessiah, do you realize you have a talk tonight?"
I said "No, I didnt - and I will not be there to give it, so you need to find someone else"
(Which reminds me - I need to tell them to take me out of the Theocrap-tic Ministry SKOOL)
He said "Oh boy, thats not good....I guess Ill need to find someone to do the talk, are you sick?"
I said "Im really sorry - but I dont have time to chat, talk to you later, gotta run" which was a cop-out I think..........

I was born after the breakup, but they were my first love. I got my first Beatles album at 5 years old.
It was Magical Mystery Tour.....I still remember the day I got it :o)
We had a bunch of threads about the remastered CD's that just came out - they are like manna from heaven!
Like everyone said, there are too many songs to choose from and narrow down, but my favorites are in line with everyone else.
If I had to pick a few.....
1) Tomorrow Never Knows - still BLOWS ME AWAY.......what a work of genius by the band, particularly John of course. I think it came at the height of their powers, experimentation, and John in all his LSD-induced glory.
2) Golden Slumbers Medley - like it was mentioned, the B side of Abbey Road is awesome, but "The End" was a perfect closer for the band.....simply perfect songs.
3) Hey Jude - I think its one of the greatest pop songs ever - the Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na, Hey Jude chorus is unforgettable.
4) Strawberry Fields Forever - another mind-blower.....beautiful and gentle, haunting and surreal, with the siren thrown in for good measure!
5) Here Comes the Sun - Gotta have a George classic on the list!
6/6A) In My Life / Norwiegian Wood - I cant leave those two off!
In My Life is so touching and beautiful in its simplicity, yet intricate at the same time.
Norwiegian Wood - the first time I heard the Sitar was on this tune.....again pure brilliance.
recently i removed a link to a copy of ray franz's book crisis of conscience.
it has been and continues to be the policy of jwd/jwn to not post download links to this book unless they are from http://www.commentarypress.com, ray franz' publishing company.. i wrote ray about the illegal posting of his work on the internet and have received a reply from him this morning.
i won't quote his entire email but will use the pertaining parts.
After the first two chapters, I was thinking that I owed Mr. Franz A LOT of money.
By the end of the book, I truly felt like it was priceless - thats the effect it has had on me. It freed me from 15 years of disillusionment and anxiety from serving a loveless organization.
As far as paying for the book - Like the old saying goes - "Freedom isnt Free"
I got mine from the library due to family circumstances, but there is no way Mr. Franz's works should be given out for free.
In fact, I felt bad that I didnt purchase the book since I love to support authors and their works. When the time is right, that book will have a proud place on my shelf.
I think the WT stuff is totally different - it is given out at no charge, many of the copyrights are expired on the old stuff, etc.... They get their $$$$$$$$.They may expect a donation, but it is not required.
If Mr. Franz was ever in need or needed to raise funds, I would donate to that man in a heartbeat.
