Lately, to keep the hounds at bay, all my hours are falsely reported....which amounts to just an hour or two per month - just enough to keep the hounds off me.

Why did YOU want to live forever??
by Scully inwhat was it about living forever that appealed to you when you were a jw?.
was it the idea that you'd have all the time in the world to do whatever you wanted to do?
were you thinking about travelling the world and seeing it all transformed into a paradise?

Hey Jesika, I like your comment.
Lots of good comments here. This topic made me think of the end of Star Trek:Generations when Will Riker tells Picard "I plan to live forever". Personally, I still like the idea. Though I am preparing myself mentally for my eventual death (of course, I could step in front of a bus tomorrow), I still hope to live forever. Just because I am not a well-performing Witness right now does not mean, to me, that I have to give up on it.

The WT will NEVER Acknowledge this study
by JT inhttp://editorial.careers.msn.com/articles/habits/.
yes, says professor andrew oswald of the university of warwick, uk.
after studying more than 9,000 people over eight years, oswald concluded that people who come into money are happier.

undercover, I am waiting for a Witness to see me sometime when I am out to lunch with a female coworker with whom I have lunch about once each month. Since my wife is always informed (she also has lunch with a male coworker at times), I'd like to see what would happen if they'd think they'd have something juicy to tell about me. And same goes the other way - I'm waiting for the day that some jw acquaintance comes up and says 'I saw your wife having lunch with some guy', to which I'd simply say, 'yeah, I know', and then I'd like to see the expression on their face. Thing is, they'd probably run to the elders first, in which case, the same scenario would simply take place with them.

Happy and/or Wise

I like to know the truth. And if the truth doesn't make me happy, so be it. If it is disquieting and I'm not happy to hear it, I think I can live with that, because at least I'd know the truth.

Are JW's destined for hell and hellfire...
by garboru into be prodded and poked and tormented by satan the devil for an eternity (or whatever your favorite hell story is)?.
now, i realize that nobody but god knows the heart.
and i know what jw's teach with regards to those not a part of the "modern day ark".. but (btw, hey you all!

Like Preston, I'd nominate Sweateran's Stadium in Philadelphia as another Witness hellfire as their mid-summer conventions take place each year in that concrete hell-hole.
But on point, no....most Witnesses are good people and I don't see how God could want to punish them, or anyone else for that matter, in some burning fire for all eternity.

Did anyone see Serena Williams on The Tonight Show
by JWinSF inlast night i happened to surf onto the tonight show.
bob newhart was the first guest, the second was serena williams.
as i'd never actually seen her before [not a sports buff] and all i'd heard about her was the various jw postings, i was curious.. first, she came off as totally natural to me.

Ah, the good 'ol Williams girls - this time Serena. There was a post a while back about her pictures in a magazine (I forget which), and she looked quite "immodest" in one of the pics, by Witness standards anyway. I'd suggest any sister who's concerned about being counseled for wearing "immodest" attire cut that pic out and carry it with her, and show it to any elder who gives her grief.
I have nothing against the Williams girls or what they are doing. My beef has always been that the typical Witness youth is strongly discouraged from pursuing the same opportunities in sports and other activities.
