at the risk of dating myself, i remember when ``suck'' was never used in civil company, as it was considered a filthy word, a euphemism for fellatio.
today, i find that i react viscerally to its wide use, and must admit to still finding it crass and offensive, although that admission likely places me at the margin rather than in the mainstream of contemporary society.
The other day my wife, whose picture appears beside the word "conservative" in the dictionary, used the phrase "that sucks". When she starts using a once-questionable word or phrase, you know things are no longer the same.

Assuming that they do, my guess is that they probably think it's kind of a fun site. I would guess also that there would be some that would shake their heads at some of the arguing that goes on here, but overall, they may very well like it somewhat.

Okay, enough of my crap - the real reasons are varied, but many posters touched on things that I can certainly relate to. One thing I can say is that we rarely seem to disagree - heck, we both enjoy sports, have similar views toward money, and similar goals and aspirations. Like Andee alluded to, if you just like being with someone, things kind of work themselves out.
One thing I have learned is that when things do go wrong, when we have differences, I try not to get too excited. Things will work out.

Scootes, sorry to hear that things here get you worked up at times. I try to avoid that, but sometimes, I guess we all feel that way. I take a break too when things get weird. I think you have a great plan....get away for a bit, and dump it on your sister!! (Jack now sits and waits for cyber-slap upside the head from eyegirl).

At times I check the "stats" section and the graphs there do reveal how often some folks post. It seems that to make the 'most posts over the last 7 days' graph one must post anywhere from about 10-25 times per day for 7 days.
I'm just curious since numbers can be somewhat fascinating (of course, they can also be boring and sometimes meaningless).

recently, the watchtower has published an article on the flag.
salute issue that is misleading and deceptive ("salvation.

I read this article and it also mentions this in the final paragraph "Christians....rely on their Bible-trained conscience in making personal decisions regarding flag salute and the singing of a national anthem".
Yet, little or no room is left here for any "personal decisions". Several possible scenarios are given and what a Christian must decide is dictated in nearly each instance.
I've been at sporting events with jw's and the way they do an end around the national anthem is a joke anyway. They get up and walk around several minutes before the start of the anthem, so that, as the article states "if they are already standing when the anthem is played, however, there is no need for them to take the special action of sitting down". They work this little 'loophole' very nicely.
well, i just got back from two weeks in chicago and denver and discovered, much to my surprize, that an article that i submitted last spring has been published.. it is on the subject of the calgary blood drama.
since it took so long to publish, the editor has made some timing changes that are not quite correct.
