"The point is that earthquakes are common and always have been,"

monday's quake in eastern turkey followed deadly recent temblors in haiti and chile, but bernard doft, the seismologist for the royal netherlands meteorological institute in utrecht, said there was no direct connection between the three.. "these events are too far apart to be of direct influence to each other," he said.. richard luckett, a seismologist from the british geological survey, said there has not been a spike in global seismic activity.. "if there was a big increase in the number of magnitude 6.0s in the past decade we would know it, because we would see it in the statistics," luckett said.
"we haven't seen an increase in 7.0s either.".

He could also have pointed out that earthquakes always happen in the same areas of the Earth. Brazil never gets any, for example. Canada gets few.

Way to go, GL Tirebiter!
Sometime in the future another unbeliever like us will find him or herself in the very same situation we went or are going through. That person will need someone to relate to. Maybe we will not be here by then, but our posts might help them find a way. Though we were never in, we were affected, some of us not seriously, some of us very, very badly.
This is also the place where we can actually interact with witnesses, some active, some former. We might never get to see your faces, but we do get to see you as much more than Saturday-morning-killjoys. I can't speak for others, but that has another effect on myself. I wonder if any of those who will knock on my door will be the sons or daughters of someone who is posting here. I will not convert, but I will not treat them badly. I thank Mouthy for this pearl of wisdom.
When I see witnesses delivering magazines, sometimes I wonder who among them is in only because of family, or because his or her youth prevents him or her from leaving. Those people could use a helping hand, and I would gladly reach out.
And, I learn. As my witness said, my heart is foolish. Who knows? I keep hoping that some day she'll see the light, and she might need me then.

I should know better, yes. But I'm having a hard time letting go of the woman witness I came to love. I wish I could get her to see my posts and something like this. I know I can't. Here's to her, then...
Patrick Swayze- She'S Like The Wind (Dirty Dancing)(Videocli
Uploaded by kt_94. - Explore more music videos. She's like the wind through my tree
She rides the night next to me
She leads me through moonlight
Only to burn me with the sun
She's taken my heart
But she doesn't know what she's done
Feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Can't look in her eyes
She's out of my league
Just a fool to believe
I have anything she needs
She's like the wind
[SOLO]
I look in the mirror and all I see
Is a young old man with only a dream
Am I just fooling myself
That she'll stop the pain
Living without her
I'd go insane
Feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Can't look in her eyes
She's out of my league
Just a fool to believe
I have anything she needs
She's like the wind
Feel your breath on my face
Your body close to me
Can't look in your eyes
You're out of my league
Just a fool to believe

Were you ever offered unconditional love by worldlies?
by dgp inwhen you were in, or at the moment, if you are in, were you ever offered unconditional love by worldly people?
if so, what did you feel about it?.
thank you very much for your posts..

Yesidid and John Doe, maybe there is no unconditional love. I won't argue on that. However, there is love that is a lot less conditional than what seems to be the rule within the WTS.
I have Baptist, Mormon, Pentecostal and Jewish friends, plus the many who are not serious about their religion and the Catholic bunch I am supposed to have as I was born a Catholic. I was the best man in the wedding of one of two of those friends. By the way, surprising as it can be, two of my married friends are a Mormon and a Baptist. The officiating minister or whatever he is called knew I wasn't a Baptist, but he didn't care. None of them has ever required me to change my religion if I want to go beyond mere casual contact with them. My mother is a staunch, very hard core Catholic, and, though she hates the idea that her son is now an unbeliever, she never shunned me. Neither have any of my friends or relatives, who do care about me and have shown it. Their love and friendship might be conditional, but much less so than what seems to be the standard in the WTS.
I can ask them to join me in a mall and have dinner. They don't look around to check whether a brother or sister happens to be there, too, and might rat them out. When I was a Catholic, no one ever told my mother that I had this Baptist friend. In fact, he was the one my mother preferred that I hang out with, because he was the "clean" guy who didn't smoke, didn't drink, and didn't have any orgies, like myself (well, two of three isn't bad, right?)
Brocephus, been there, done that already.
Flipper, I like your posts and the way you have rebuilt your life. I take it, then, that it was only due to external pressure that you cut contact with that old friend. The witness in my case has done the same. I wanted to know if she would ever keep in her mind the way I have shown her my love. Goldensky claims no woman could have resisted as much. I hope Goldensky is eventually right.

Whatever you do reflects on Jehovah
by dgp ini heard a witness say this.
sorry if my question seems stupid, but i'm not a jw and i don't know any better.
i have the feeling that this phrase means that you have to carefully weight your every word and action so the worldlies won't have a bad opinion of the wts?.

Brocephus, actually I had that already well figured out. I know that very, very well, and I figured it out myself. My doubt is whether JW's would do social things they would rather not do if that didn't seem to bring "reproach on Jehovah's name". Like being polite to people they actually don't like at all, for example.

And this also means you will often do what you wouldn't, just because your actions would reflect on Jehovah?

Oldest person in the U.S. has died today -
by JWoods inhere is a link:.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_oldest_american.
as she was 114, this would have made her what, approx 8 in the year 1914?
-
dgp
Yes, aniron. But of course the whole point of the thread is to say that the Generation that was alive in 1914 is pretty much dead by now. So are most of the Millions then Living who would never die. Yet another false prophecy that will unavoidably have to be abandoned for "new lite", don't you think?

No. She has pushed me out of her life. I know for a fact that she loves me, but I'm Satan tempting her.
