I'm here because I fell in love with a witness woman. When she was nothing more than someone I liked, I learned that she had led a horrible life. I searched the internet and landed upon Free Minds, JWFacts, and then here.

This board has taught me just so much about witnesses and the WTS that I feel like I was blind before.

I'm still coming because I keep learning. I want to learn more just in case the witness I love ever needs me. For the time being, she has pushed me out of her life, even though she knows full well that she loves me.

Brocephus, I ask this kind of questions because I've never been a JW and find that quite often I don't understand what is going on through the minds of a particular witness.

sorry if my question seems stupid, but i'm not a jw and i don't know any better.

i have the feeling that this phrase means that you have to carefully weight your every word and action so the worldlies won't have a bad opinion of the wts?.

JW boy and 'worldly' girl - love torn in two

i have a question about being in a relationship with a jw boy.. we were friends since the beginning of our senior year in high school.

i called him oniichan ( older brother in japanese) so it'll just be for fun.

Yes, man. She is not to blame. As a kid, I was told that men don't cry. Well, it has cost me an ocean of tears to really understand just that. My witness is not to blame. Neither is yours, neither is Oniichan here. They all think they are doing the right thing. It's the set of rules, and a few men who know very well what they are doing, that are to blame.

Nekoreichan, we were missing something. As a woman, you would have it worse than Gary Neal or any unbelieving male. You'd be the woman and he would expect you to be in submission to what he said. Again, it would not be him to blame, but the system of "thought" that leads perfectly good people to act that way.

How Much are Your Conditional Friends Worth?

upon learning that wt was not "god's organization", i was devastated.

for two decades i had spent valuable time building friendships, mostly with jws.

during my stay at bethel, i made many fine friends, some of them very close.

I'm not a JW. I recently had my first experience with conditional love. As in "If you join, I might be with you". I have never gone through what you have gone through, yet I was able to feel how bad this conditional love is. Before this experience, I didn't really understand the meaning of the term. Just for the sake of comparison, when I decided to leave my Catholic faith, I didn't have to tell anyone. I simply stopped going to mass. I'm sure my family didn't like that, but no one stopped talking to me, no one pressured me into going back, and, if I wanted, I could simply go back, sit in church, confess and take the host. That's how difficult it would be to be back to the Catholic Church. And I could pretty much go away again if I wanted, all without repercussions. Nowadays, my family knows me as one of several atheists in the family, and that doesn't mean they don't love me. I don't know what it would feel like to lose that love and that measure of freedom.

I feel for you guys.

7.3 Million Regular Pioneers

You have to bear in mind that, for every one who is out there "pioneering", someone else is working very hard to support the adventure. I knew of a case where the pioneer husband and daughter were out in the street while their 80-something mother (and mother-in-law) worked as a maid to help them pioneer.

Such a pity that so many good people get exploited and weathered.

hi all, the first time i posted on here i was really depressed about being single in my late thirties.

well, it's kind of ironic that i don't care about that as much anymore.

and, especially since i'm dealing with more important personal issues, which is examining the faith i was raised in, jw's of course.

The big question you need to ask yourself is whether you want to stay in the religion or not. As I'm sure you know, most of the important decisions regarding your life will depend on that one. Only you can tell what is good for you, of course.

Late thirties (as in 38) isn't that late to marry outside of the WTS.

The reporting of field service time

were any of you really bothered/still bothered by the practice of field service reporting?.

there was an old post on here that got me thinking how the practice got started.. instead of simply being a tool to monitor the progress of the faith, or to see if the work was done "throughout the earth", it appears to me that it was just a tool used to keep the presses rolling and to see how much literature to produce - along with controlling the rank and file.

the average jw gives it no thought, its just another "blessing" from the organization when you hear the monthly reports, etc.. the organization is so statistics-driven that they make jesus out to be a ceo with people who need to meet their sales quotas.i'm sure he really wouldnt care if peter and andrew got 20 hours one month and john got 25. wait, maybe thats why john was "beloved" .
