I don't believe that God and jesus want ANYONE coming to them in "duress", faith based on recompense is no faith at all.

by StoneWall inhow could god have always existed since it plainly says near the end of that verse before me there was no god formed?.
here is the quote from the nwt and i also looked it up on numerous other translations and they all used the word before.. .
isaiah 43:10. you are my witnesses, is the utterance of jehovah, even my servant whom i have chosen, in order that you may.

Spike,
I don't think that anywhere is it ever stated that Jesus is independant of God, far from that, he is in Union with God.
It is stated that THROUGH Jesus, we will reach God ( Paraphrasing of course).
As for the New Covenant being one thing and the NT another, no, they are not the same, but you don't have one wihtout the other, do you?
I mean, there was no NT for quite a while obviously, and the new Covenant was already in place, nevertheless, interpreting the NT one must base it on the New Covenant context.
As for 'Many Gods and Jesus being the chief of them", well, you are certainly free to interpret it that way, I for one am not a polytheist.

God's Conversation with Job
by under_believer inso i'm still stuck on the jw email spam train, and my mom sends me this powerpoint with a horrible, horrible presentation with job 38 set to a bunch of pictures of the universe and whatnot.
you know the passage, it's all "where were you when i created the earth, you insignificant gnat".
and the point, i guess, is to show that god is all powerful and awesome.

There are indeed many parts in the OT that makes us thanks full for the New Covenant, LOL !
I have never been a fan of the whole "end justifies the menas" that seems to prevail in the OT.We do need to remember for WHOM the OT was written and the Hebrews were quite a treat as people, lets not forget that they feared and worshipped a "jealous" and what seems to be spiteful God, but when Jesus comes around with Love, the kill him.
Hmmm....maybe there is somethign there ;)

There is no pblem in the bible being taken in its entirely, when applied to the context of what is bein "interpreted", as long as it takes into account the New Covenant and applies it to the Old Covenant.
You must also keep in line with the totallity of the chapter in which the passage is applied.
Many OT passages are aplied to Jesus as the fullfilment of the NEW covenent and are not longer "apllicable" to ONLY God.
As Jesus became Saviour, Redeemer and Judge (all roles of God in the OT) in the New Covenant then as such the context of the OT passage when applied to the New Covenant must be respected.

Whose Prayers Are Heard?
by compound complex in"but peter began, and said, 'now i really understand that god is not a respecter of persons, but in every nation he who fears him anddoes what is right is acceptable to him.
' " --- acts 10:34, 35; douay version.
as a jw, if you were one, did you truly believe that god would answer the prayer of a "worldly" individual only if he were praying: "dear god, i'm desperate!

Name Things JWs Believe That Are Not Actually Biblically Provable
by minimus inhere's one example: being a congregation publisher.
nowhere in the bible does it say you should be a "publisher" and turn in your time if you preach.
they try to twist the scriptures by saying that numbers are constantly being recorded in the bible so then conforming to the rules of being a publisher is from the scriptures.. yeah, right..

It was, bible commentaries are great reads, gives you an interesting perspective, even if you don't agree with them.
In the case of the Cross, it seems liek a plausable one, but even that commentary ( along with every othe rone i have read) states that the term "stauros" referes to a "Beam, pole, cross or cross/beam", sort of along the lines of the greek term for Hand that means everythign from the fingers to the elbow.

"Michael Jackson knew it was the truth, that's why he left his kids to his JW mother"
by BonaFide ini talked to a couple of my friends that are jw's this week about this, they said, "well, obviously mj thought it was the truth, that's why he left his kids to his mother, so they can be raised as witnesses.".
why didn't he leave his kids to his brothers?
he has several of them.. bf.

His mom was a constant fixture on their lives so I would not be surprised if he did leave the kids with her, but th eissue of her age is a real one and the courts will take that into account.

Isaacaustin,
I recall reading a while back in a bible commentary ( don't ask me which one, lol) that the term was probably used because Jesus carried the simlpe post and not the whole cross ( the weight being far to heavy).

An interesting view:
Adam was not the first homosapien, but the first Man to know God, to be, if I can use thew term, "Enlightened" to the presence of God.
We know that there were many creatures created before Adam, including primative man.
We must venture to make the bible be cohesive with proven history, not the other way around, and we can do this, its just a matter of trying to understand what was being written.
The creation of Man doesn't have to go against evolution, one really has nothing to do with the other if we view the "creation" of Adam as an "awakening" of Adam.

I also noticed the use of the term "Tau", which is greek for the letter T, just as it is stated in the Epistle of Barnabas.
