my dad is an elder, who i thought i could trust with a big personal family issue. he in turn told his best friend ( also an elder ) the whole thing. then his friend told his wife who in turn told a COUNTLESS amount of people. It turned into a HUGE mess. When I found out about it, i called my dad who denied telling anyone. I asked him "Daddy do you swear on Jehovah?" He said of COURSE! I then said " Daddy I know you are lying. So-in-so just called me and told me that they heard all about what I told you"
Then it was like complete silence. He didnt know what to say, he was caught in a lie. And a huge one at that. I had a really hard time for a LONG time dealing with him lying to me and even SWEARING on Jehovah's name with him being an elder and all. My mom even told me that I needed to forgive and forget and get over it. Hello, how am i supposed to have any faith in ANY elder if I cant even trust my own FATHER!!! I had been before a judicial commitee before and it just makes me think that everything i ever said in that meeting was never confidential and everybody knows about it...
Anyway that is how my fading slowly started..which followed by seeing people i used to talk to at meetings in public places and having them completly ignore me. i mean that really hurts!!!

my husband and i were shunned in subway while ordering sandwiches. an elder was behind us in line and we totally made eye contact, then he pretended it didnt happen. then after we got our sandwiches we went to sit down and he was filling his cup up with soda, we sat in a spot where i know he would be forced to walk right by us. i just starred at him the whole time then when he walked by i said really loud " HI BROTHER XXXXXXX" lol he just said hi and walked away. (keep in mind this is a bro that i was REALLY close to growing up.)i was like omg we arent even DF'd or DA'd. So sad for them that they have to be that way. but also really funny.

2009 Drama - Kudos to Bethel. Sorry.
by Open mind inmy overall impression of this year's modern-day prodigal son drama was that it was one of the best i've ever seen.
"best" if the goal is to try to convince young jws to stay in the org.. the amount of cheesiness was at an all-time low, imo.
there were a few exceptions, but i got the impression that bethel is getting pretty good intel from the field and incorporating it into the program.

this was the WORST drama EVER. so lame, so unreal. i tried to explain how i thought it was unrealistic and very poorly written and they got so offended
and started to immediately change the subject saying "the end is sooo close" etc...etc...etc....... shoot me in the head PLEASE!!!

The young ones are leaving in droves!!!
by 1914BS ini hear that many congos are loosing all their young dubs and now only very old dubs are left.
it seems the jws religion is dying out because there are no youngins to replace the aging ms/elder/cos .
the young dubs are very internet savy and would rather play warcraft than go out in the field circus.. i remember a wt study article a couple of years ago that was entitled" when a young person rebels" or something like that - anyone know that mag?.

for me personally, i must say that growing up in "the truth" everytime i would hear to stay away from the internet and even sites like this one, it actually made me more curious to look into why i was restricted to do something. i never was the model elders daughter. lol
and i have to say since i have joined this site, it just feels like a breath of fresh air because since my husband and i have stopped going, its really caused me this constant fear of armageddon. it seems like i think about it everyday. my brain feels like its just been scrambled. its so hard to figure out what my real purpose or what anyones real purpose is. and just want to say thanks for everybody who posts on here because it makes my days a little bit better.
