Just 'phoned London Bethel!
by The Searcher ini asked if the new britain branch construction had stopped, and i was told that "the governing body instructed us to cease all work on the project.".
"earthquakes" in one place after another!.

Watchtower-free: Interesting. It makes sense not to make a global announcement that construction is shut down. It will properly be sold as an increase in construction (the kingdom halls). -

Brooklyn Layoffs and Halt to Kingdom Hall construction projects
by James Jack ina good source just just told me that at morning worship today that the governing body announced that a total of 1600 bethelites will be let get go and not transferred to warwich when the last property is sold in brooklyn and all kingdom hall building projects are on hold for at least a year so that all the focus will be on the preaching work.

SafeAtHome: I would also like to know more about this. It would be great to know if this is a world-wide downsizing and so also affecting all european Bethels. -

Another ruse?
by Pistoff incould the stopping of construction be just another ruse to squeeze money from the rank and file?.
it will certainly generate buzz like nothing else..

Pistoff: Yah.. my thoughts exactly. Still, if they are expanding as much as they claim with the kingdom halls and whatnot (but why not just cut the expansion by 20% which nobody would notice?) this might just be a sign they are investing a lot and they may still be doing financially okay. -

Pistoff: It just dosn't seem very economical. I know nothing about constructions, but I imagine that for large projects there are contractors etc. that need to be cancelled when it is postponed and I would suppose that all costs money. Perhaps someone can weight in if this is a problem?
Also, well, it does not seem like something they would make up when you consider how proud they are of their numbers and stats. Whats the point of postponing so many things (and seem like you are missing cash) to get what, 20% extra donations for a short while?

Rumor Confirmed!: Bethel Downsize First Hand

.
he said its true, its not a rumor.

Respectful Observer: My contact indicated to me that the construction freeze applied to "assembly halls and bigger", so it would not affect Kingdom Hall construction.
This makes a lot of sense as it would be hard to imagine such a massive miss projection financially. But it is still very interesting; someone must have messed up, perhaps they over-estimated the donations from kingdom halls due to the new loan forgiveness procedure?
I can't imagine it is cheap to suddenly halt so many construction projects.
All of a sudden the thread that was pulled for privacy reasons a few months back where it was indicated the JW org has been financially downgraded makes a lot more sense...

World Wide Construction comes to a Shuddering Halt - Jehovah's Blessing has Evidently been Suspended!
by Slidin Fast inthe chelmsford project in the uk has already come to a halt and every one has been sent home.
the bethel family in london is to be cut by several hundred.
my impression is that most ambitious youngster in the org dream of being involved with the building program.

Is there confirmation this affects all kingdom hall building projects or that it is just large projects (Bethels, assembly halls, etc.) as was stated in another thread? The kingdom halls are plausibly far more expensive than the larger projects and it seems more reasonable. Can anyone confirm or disconfirm? -

I recall a reliable poster (who will not be named since the topic was removed to protect privacy) posted a few months ago about hearing that the WTS had been financially downgraded. It hardly seems like a coincidence!!!
