  Brooklyn Layoffs and Halt to Kingdom Hall construction projects

  a good source just just told me that at morning worship today that the governing body announced that a total of 1600 bethelites will be let get go and not transferred to warwich when the last property is sold in brooklyn and all kingdom hall building projects are on hold for at least a year so that all the focus will be on the preaching work.

  i just texted a very good remote worker friend, said i heard that there is a reduction in force coming at bethel and i hoped he wouldn't be affected.

  .

  he said its true, its not a rumor.

  Respectful Observer: My contact indicated to me that the construction freeze applied to "assembly halls and bigger", so it would not affect Kingdom Hall construction.
  

  This makes a lot of sense as it would be hard to imagine such a massive miss projection financially. But it is still very interesting; someone must have messed up, perhaps they over-estimated the donations from kingdom halls due to the new loan forgiveness procedure?

  I can't imagine it is cheap to suddenly halt so many construction projects.

  All of a sudden the thread that was pulled for privacy reasons a few months back where it was indicated the JW org has been financially downgraded makes a lot more sense...

  i asked if the new britain branch construction had stopped, and i was told that "the governing body instructed us to cease all work on the project.".

  World Wide Construction comes to a Shuddering Halt - Jehovah's Blessing has Evidently been Suspended!

  the chelmsford project in the uk has already come to a halt and every one has been sent home.

  the bethel family in london is to be cut by several hundred.

  my impression is that most ambitious youngster in the org dream of being involved with the building program.

  The searcher: Verified? the kingdom halls are not being constructed? is this really true?! It is just too good news to really believe; how could the make such as massive miss in the financial projections?!

  Is there confirmation this affects all kingdom hall building projects or that it is just large projects (Bethels, assembly halls, etc.) as was stated in another thread?The kingdom halls are plausibly far more expensive than the larger projects and it seems more reasonable. Can anyone confirm or disconfirm?

  I recall a reliable poster (who will not be named since the topic was removed to protect privacy) posted a few months ago about hearing that the WTS had been financially downgraded. It hardly seems like a coincidence!!!

  so they asked all the kingdom halls for all the money in their savings account and then make them give a monthly payment for the rest of their life.

  the reason for this was because the in-gathering is so great, that they need to build, build, build!.

  now the massive building will stop..

  We need some more confirmation. On another thread someone said that they were going to suspend LARGE projects such as AS halls, bethels, etc. The "big announcements" was in the main about kingdom halls IIRC.

  This is super awesome news and it seems to be confirmed from multiple, independent sources that Big Things are happening. It would be super nice with a thread about things which has been confirmed by reliable sources.

  today i attended a one-day assembly in my hometown.

  i knew when it came time to read the afternoon expenses that it would be an incredibly high and ridiculous amount that was nowhere near the real expenses for that day.

  sure enough, after lunch came the announcement.

  500$?! how is that even possible, my uber-jw in laws by all accounts donate at least 100$ per convention and likely more. The entire family alone would likely donate more than 500$ total.

  i'm still reading and researching the bible.

  a thought occurred to me... the universe is so huge and full yet most of it cannot be seen by the naked human eye.. while jw's could claim that god created the stars to look pretty/ for navigation... what about the rest that cannot be seen?

  the huge never ending mass of universe that the bronze age writers of the bible had no idea about?.

  It is one of those points that are so obvious and uncontested that it is often missed it is evidence against a christian world-view. If our universe only contained our sun (or our sun and a few more stars) it would be a great mystery why our planet was suitable for life; that is on theism we can have a single sun or billions of sun, whereas on naturalism we expect there to be billions of suns. The many galaxies we see is then evidence for naturalism.

  Imagine you live near a lake. At some point you detect lead in the lake and you notice your friend upstream is putting out a lead-containing compound in the lake.

  You tell him to stop because he is making the lake toxic. He says: But lead is a natural compound, you should expect to find it in the lake.

  So you show him the amount of lead has been increasing for the past months closely correlated with the amount of lead he has put into the lake.

  So he says: But that's not proof. It might be some other source of lead which is poisoning the lake. So you show him computations which show the amount of lead he is putting into the lake relative to the body of water can be expected to increase the amount of lead in the lake.

  So he comes back with a glass of water and tells you: Look, no lead in this water. So you ask him where he got the water from and he says he got it right near a small stream leading into the lake after a rainfall. So you tell him your claim is not *every part* of the lake has gotten more lead in it, only that on average the amount of lead has gone up.

  So he tells you how you can know that lead is bad for life in the lake? You show him medical evidence for this. He tells you that if the lead is bad for the fish, it's also bad for the mosquitoes, and that's good insofar he is concerned.

  Then you give up trying to convince your neighbor and accept the lake will be poisonous.
