Hypocritical video on jw.org "what's a real friend."
by stuckinarut2 inhave you watched the 4 min animated white board drawing video on jw.org called "what's a real friend?".
it is one of the most hypocritical pieces they have produced!.
it goes into detail explaining that real friends "don't judge you, dont talk about you behind your back, don't hold grudges, don't expect you to conform, and encourage individuality!".

What's a real friend?
Learn from Jehovah. A real friend is someone who:
- Expect you to obey him
- Expect you to worship him
- Will order you to commit various crimes up to an including genocide
- Will instruct you when to execute family members
- Love for you to make him barbeque, but never shares (except in some cases his special friends, the priests)
- Will hurt others to show how much he cares for you and deserve your respect
- Will knock up your wife if you cannot
- Will give you women to rape if you behave as he expect
- Are ready to punish you every time you do not do exactly as he expect however:
- if you meet certain conditions he will "forgive" you
- You can choose not to be jehovahs friend, only his enemy
Jehovah. A true friend. Who happens to behave like a fucked up african warlord.

Geh Jhine, it is allmost as if you took the talkorigins page for creationist quotemining and desided to remove the context for the quotes:
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/quotes/mine/part1-4.html
Notice that the quotes you have cited out of context are about 30 years old and (supposedly) discuss a fossil record full of gaps. This thread discuss the fossil record of cetaceans which has been dramatically expanded in the past decades and contain many transitional forms. Now if you think about those two things for a moment you will realise the fossil record today is more full and contain more transitional forms than it did 30 years ago, and the same point could be made regarding nearly any other larger group. Now how does that fit in with the creationist hypothesis?

Awake January 2015: How did life begin? - More misquotes
by Designer Stubble in
some might assume that a scientifically-minded person would pick evolution and that a religious person would pick creation.
but not always.. rama singh, professor of biology at canadas mcmaster university, says: the opposition to evolution goes beyond religious fundamentalism and includes a great many people from educated sections of the population.
.
end-of-quote in awake.

"Infidel" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali - The Story of a Muslim Apostate
by cofty ini have just finished reading one of the most powerful, thought-provoking books i have ever read.. if somebody really wanted to know the reality of life inside the watchtower they must talk to a rational ex-jw.
only people like us can see through the offical statememets and stereotypes and understand the thinking, pressures, hopes and fears of life in the cult.. ayaan hirsi ali shares her personal experience of growing up in a muslim community.
ayaan was born in somalia with it's culture of clan loyalty and honour.

"Christians Are Leaving Christianity by the Droves"
by designs inin the blog http://debunkingchristianity.blogspot.com bloggers john shore, john loftus, and robert price are watching the dismantling of christinaity over the lgbt question in the us.
see the 10/17/2014 post.. coupled with the scandals of the megachurches lately many christians are asking questions for the first time on how things have gotten this way and where is the holy spirit to protect the church and people.. .

Jc: LisaRose, the American Churches were divided over slavery too.
an apt comparison: an ancient discrimatory practice being proded up by scriptual support was increasingly being seen as irrelevant and immoral by intellectuals and the younger generation and today it is seen as morally impossible to accept.

Unstopable ravens: More to the point, if there, as you seem to say, are no objective reasons to forbid gay marriage that are not based on religion, can we not agree that to a seculary minded person who do not wish to base law on religious ideas, or a person who simply does not believe in god like me, making gay marriage illegal is as sensible as introducing any other discrimatory religious ideas like forbidding food containing pork, or fobidding food containing both meat from cows and milk, or forbidding work on the sabbath, or forbidding women to hold office, or punishing people who have sex before marriage or any other such thing?

Junction-guy: It is a bit funny that the sign christianity is true just happends to look exactly like more and more people realising christianity is properly not true
unstopableravens: Outside of god, there is no moral standard of right and wrong, each person gets to decide
As best as i can tell, you have just accepted there is no reasons why we should not allow gay marriages which are not solely based on religious ideas. I can then just say that I do not wish religion to influence laws and I don't think I am the first to think of that idea.
If there are no objective reasons to oppose gay marriage between say two lesbians why do god oppose it?
