  This is rarely the case.

  nonjwspouse: An employer can refuse to hire based on hair color, personality, Etc., but not religion or any other protected class reason.

  he was not hired because his personality included treating women differently from men in a way that many women would find condecending or sexist. That this was ultimately caused by his religion is not very relevant.

  Bob: no. That's just my religion that tells me to be intollerant jerk towards blacks. Don't be intollerant against my religion, unless it is for intollerant religious reasons.

  Over here, I read about a woman who became headmaster at a school in an area with a lot of muslims. Ofcourse most of them didn't want to great her because reasons.

  She put a sign on the door that said something like: "If you feel you cannot shake my hand, please bow and say: "I cannot great you because of my religion but I hereby acknowledge you as a fellow human being"".

  She would then insist it was one or the other. Odd thing, many would do the routine once and then deside they had no problems shaking hands...

  Then there is the crackpot thing about greeting a person with the LEFT hand, I believe that's fairly common amongst some muslims.

  I say good riddance. If the person cannot properly explain why he must be rude that's a pretty solid reason not to hire him that has nothing to do with religion.

  "The Cyrus Cylinder"

  i suspect that i am the last one here who has read the book: the cyrus cylinder: the king of persias proclamation from ancient babylon, edited by irving finkel; published by i. b. tauris, 2013; 144 pages.. so i simply wish to record my deep admiration for the book.

  it explains and analyses the cylinders text as well as providing a sympathetic account of the people involved with its ancient and modern history.

  (chapter 1: the babylonian perspective; chapter 2: discovery; chapter 5: a persian perspective.

  now jws can ask: what is the big deal about bringing changes in teaching!

  did not such a great scientist, stephen hawking, create ripples by saying that his most famous discovery of black holes did not actually exist, after all?

  and hawking is only a tip of the ice-berg!

  Well in that case a person should ask them what exactly SH said which is in fact very different from how the OP summarized him; SH is speculating about the event horizons quantum properties.

  Also i fail to see why most entries on that list are scientific hoaxes.
