Birthdays and my six year old
by Rocky_Girl ini am divorced from a jw and we have two children.
i have been out for 10 years but we both were raised 'in.
' we share custody so the little ones are a little confused as to why mommy gives them a b-day party, has a christmas tree and takes them to an hour of church mostly spent singing but daddy just drags them to 5 hours of lecture a week and won't let them be friends with the neighbor kids.. sunday night, after a week with his father, my six year old told me that he can't celebrate his b-day because a guy got his head cut off in the bible at a b-day party.

Play the Devil's Advocate
by nbernat inso my family wants to talk to me about my "doubts" and i know they'll try to defend everything they can in any way that they can so i just want to be prepared and see what they might say (what you would have said as a witness or what you've heard others say) so that i could rebut it on the spot.. if the fds is directed by the holy spirit why have they been wrong before?
"light gets brighter...." but that's not the case because there would be no reason to go back to old policies after changing them...the light certainly doesn't get brighter, then darker, then brighter, etc.if god is omniscient why did he create satan knowing he would rebel or adam and eve knowing they would sin?

2010 Drama - No Generation
by allelsefails inafter sitting thru the drama this year i was struck with a thought.. there was a scene where a "brother" said they knew the end would come, but did not think it would be in their lifetime.
at no point did someone say "but jesus said this generation would see the end" why?
because "this generation" now means 2 generations that overlap - as explained to us in the last talk of the day.

Ancestry.com - How long is a Generation?
by truthseeker infound this article, it's way easier to understand than watchtower's definition of a generation!.
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/cs/satellite?c=learning_c&childpagename=uklearningcenter%2flearning_c%2fpagedefault&pagename=learningwrapper&cid=1265124426382.
how long is a generation?in general we think of a generation being about 25 years - from the birth of a parent to the birth of a child.
