Who On This Site Would You Like To Meet?
by minimus inthere are a lot of interesting people that frequent this site.. sometimes, we get an idea of what the posters are really like in "real life".
and i'm sure i could be easily surprised by some that you think might be strong personalities because of their board presence, and in reality, they might be shy in a face to face setting.. i would enjoy meeting simon.
simon used to be terribly annoyed by my posting and now i think he's accepted with tolerance my being here.. farkel seems like a grouchy cantankerous fellow but i think he'd be very interesting company!.

@DT - Thanks!
@Terry - Yes I have seen Worlds Apart. That's a great film! Happiness is also a love story and shares similar themes, but the narrative goes a different direction.

Hello to the vast apostate army! I have exciting news to share. My new romance novel debuts today on Curiosity Quills Press as a serial novel. Each Thursday you'll be able to read a new chapter for FREE. (A print/eBook version will follow in 2013.) I had a blast writing this story and hope that you will enjoy it. It's fun. Here is the first chapter --> http://curiosityquills.com/happiness-how-to-find-it-chapter-one/
“The hardest choice she ever had to make was between true religion and true love.”
Rose Gluck thought she had everything in life. Just out of high school, she spent her days working as a pioneer minister of her Jehovah’s Witness faith, going door-to-door teaching others about the Bible and the happifying future God had planned. She thought she knew what it meant to be happy, but things would change when Wyatt True shows up.
Drawn to the dashing young brother, Rose experiences feelings that she never knew existed. Meanwhile, despite his vow of singleness, Wyatt can’t but help to fall for the beautiful young sister. But the Presiding Overseer of the congregation has his own plans for Rose. Will Rose find eternal happiness?

For those in any doubt that the Society is at war with Facebook...
by cedars in...take a look at this from page 29 of the latest october 2012 awake!.
the gloves are now well-and-truly off.
referring to facebook as a "social networking website" clearly isn't working.. the society now feels compelled to start being more specific about which websites it doesn't want you to visit!.

This is typical Watchtower. They float a negative article in "Watchting the World" (or whatever it is called now) about a pet-peeve. The congregation picks up on Mother's "disproval" and backs away.
For example, one time I decided to research what the WT had to say about beards. I actually found little direct condemnation. There were a few of these little news blurbs about beards being dangerous on jobs or not considered proffesional by some company.
Also, when I was a child, a single small mention of "Garbage Pail Kids" in the back on an Awake! prompted our parents to make us throw them away.

District Convention Points Saturday 21-07-2012 New Light? Governing Body Is Our Mother?
by Bubblegum Apotheosis ini have been trying to wrap my head around the talk that introduced the slave as our mother?
the brothers at bethel are worried that we are not treating our spiritual mother with respect.
jehovah is our father, the faithful slave (the governing body) is our spiritual mammy.

It's not a new teaching per say, but it is one that most JW's are not familiar with. Calling the organization "mother" went out of style with back calls, district assemblies, rendesvouzs. They are reintroducing it. In the convention demostration a CO is helping a brother understand why his Bible student is not making progress. The CO asks if the study has been helped to recognize/appreciate his spiritual mother. The brother asks with confusion, "His spiritual mother?" CO goes on to explain that it is the organization, using the passage in Proverbs. It is more direct then the obscure references seen in recent literature quoted by Blondie.
